Our new Pecan Pie Porter no longer uses extract, but rather brown sugar and pecans roasted by friends at The Gallows in Boston. Buddy Hadry, a rep at Bella Vista in PA, gave me the name for this beer, the second Pecan beer now that he has named. Thank you, Buddy!

Pours dark unclear with a decent beige head. The aroma brings some spices from the fall, but not pecans persay. The flavor brings a toasted malty porter with some bitter hoppy notes as well. The flavor of the pecans are not prevalent and there is some sweetness, not necessarily brown sugar though.

Dark brown, almost black with a thin brown head. Aroma is a little nutty with a note of roasted coffee. Flavor is strong roasted malt, maybe slightly on the burnt end. The pecan flavor is light, but itís there underneath the roasted malt. Overall, strong effort.

Doesnít really evoke "pecan pie" for me, just a vague nuttiness behind brown sugar and roasted malt. But thatís actually better for me, as Iím not a big pecan pie fan.

Bottle thanks to PhatDog. Pours black with tan head. Nose of roasted pecan, vanilla and lightly toasted chocolate malt. Taste is a bit richer - lots of roasted chocolate with some coffee roast and vanilla. Thereís a roasted nuttiness in the finish, which I attribute to the pecans. Medium body. Well balanced.

Solid porter, hints of nuttiness, roaste notes, a solid beer, the brewery is growing on me.

This is a very good beer with the pecan taste met with the maltiness of the porter. Enjoyed very much. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Total Wine. Pours a viscous ebony body with a thumbnail of brown head that diminishes fast. Lush and velvety on the nose with a scent reminiscent of a chocolate malted milk shake. Flavors include caramel, cocoa bean, toasted nuts, bread, and subtle pine in the finish. Medium/full body and full carbonation. This is a nice porter with good flavor without being overbearing.

Running through the clown shoes line up here and if I havenít said it before then ill cover it here. These guys make so many different styles of beer Iím amazed they are able to make them all somewhat solid and drinkable. If you were doing a tasting youíd be able to grab 10 of these guys beers and show off the style and flavors of craft beer. Nutty pecan aroma. Sweet and full bodied flavor. Finish is sticky sweet. Great desert beer here. Would also go well at the high holidays. Christmas and Easter.

Bottle. Pours dark black with tan head. Smells of chocolate and pecans. Has a sweet, nutty taste with hints of chocolate and malts. Slightly sweet aftertaste. A good beer
