COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our new Pecan Pie Porter no longer uses extract, but rather brown sugar and pecans roasted by friends at The Gallows in Boston. Buddy Hadry, a rep at Bella Vista in PA, gave me the name for this beer, the second Pecan beer now that he has named. Thank you, Buddy!

22oz bottle in an English pint. Pours very dark brown with a lacy, light tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, some chocolate, dark sugar and pecans, and light hops with hints of smokiness. Flavor about the same, with a nice blend of everything and no overly artificial flavors. Average texture. An interesting porter.

Bottled on 10/05/12, 22 oz bomber into a pint glass A - Pours a very dark brown that appears black until held up to the light. Creamy one finger light khaki head with great lacing and retention. S - Caramel, roasted malts, brown sugar, and chocolate. Has that mineral/malt bitterness found in most porters. A touch of nuttiness on the end. Doesn’t really scream "pecan pie" but it does smell like a sweet porter. T - Roasted malts followed by sweet caramel, charred and lightly bitter malts, and cocoa powder. The finish is nutty which combined with the sweetness creates a vague illusion of pecan pie. Again, not definitive but a slight hint. Mouth feel is medium bodied with high carbonation lending to a quick finish which is great considering how sweet the beer is. O - I missed my chance to try this beer when it was called Pecan Pie Porter and brewed with extracts. This all natural version is pretty damn tasty. Not a spot on recreation of a pecan pie in bottle, but it is a nice little addition to a porter.

22oz Bomber
Appearance - Dark brown, light bubbles
Aroma - Brown sugar, pecans, cocoa
Taste - Nuts, maple syrup, slight roast, subtle bitter finish

Thanks to OmegaX for the share. This one got pretty interesting as it warmed up; from sessionable to dessert-like. I really like how the brown sugar settles in more and more after each sip. Cheers!
