From a bottle poured a dark brown color with a small amount of head. Strong light smokey malty flavor with a lasting finish.

22oz bottle. Medium brown head atop cola black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, molasses/rum, caramel, some bittersweet chocolate, light vinous. Taste is sweet, cane sugar, rum/vinous, some caramel, light vanilla, molasses. Medium-full body, low carbonation, a bit of booziness (though not overly so given the ABV).

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 11/18/2013. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, roasted malt, toast, toffee, molasses, raisin, vanilla, oak, rum, dark bread, light smoke, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, rum barrel, and light-moderate smoke notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, raisin, molasses, vanilla, oak, rum, light smoke, and roasted earthiness. Slight roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, raisin, molasses, vanilla, oak, rum, light smoke, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and robustness of dark/roasted malt, rum barrel, and light-moderate smoke flavors; with a great malt/barrel flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, silky, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent rum barrel aged imperial stout. All around great complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt, rum barrel, and light-moderate smoke flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle pours very dark brown with one finger tan head. malty licorice-like aroma. Taste interesting combination of what seems like a base imperial stout with the usual dark malts and roast, combined with smoke and a rum sweetness. Ashy finish with smoke. Full thick palate. I enjoyed the combination of the sweet rum and smoke. The smoke did not over-dominate as is so often the case with smoky beers.

3/15/14 shared with Luke at M&D. This is the beer I made luke get out his car for to get it at a bottle shop. They were out of it. Had to get it in a trade. Pours black as night. Aroma is chocolatePine. Slight booziness. Taste follows the nose. Rum sweetness is present as well. Rum and barrel notes become more obvious as it warms. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

sample at EBF, big and rich not overly sweet which i was afraid of. Tons of roast and ash balance out the rum barrel treatment. Another great stout by clown shoes!

Bottle - Rum, roast malts and chocolate. Jet black with a brown head. Sweet dark chocolate and a roasty bitterness. Nice if a little sweet.
