Black with some brown translucent edges. Nice espresso crema colored head. Nose of rum, vanilla, and oak. Burst of dark chocolate brownie and cocoa on first sip. Rich, not very complex, but tasty stuff.

Bomber poured to tulip. Boozy aroma. Mild, smooth rum taste underlying coffee, chocolate and roast malt. The smoke in the description is subtle along with hint of vanilla. Creamy soft palate. Very smooth. Very smooth.

Lots of sweet vanilla rum-ness with chocolate, oak and a smoky finish. Burned a bit going down, which was probably the holy water.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
The pour coming out of the bomber looked dark brown, but settled to near black in the tulip glass. The head was small, at less than one finger thick. The smell was very roasty, with coffee, toffee, and chocolate. The taste was was extension of the smell, but magnified tenfold in intensity. The coffee, chocolate, and caramel competed for immediate attention, and black strap molasses jumped into the mix as well. I could sense just a hint of the smoked malt, but they did not play much of a role in the flavor. The body was thick, the feel velvety, and the finish warming. Exceptional stout.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
25.4 oz. bottle, split with a friend during the AFC Championship Game on 1-19-14. Labeled as "Clown Shoes Hammer of the Holy Smoked Imperial Stout." Scents of chocolate, vanilla, and alcohol. I eventually got the rum. Coffee and rum ball smells. Nice but not complex aroma. Pours very dark, nearly black with a small amount of tan head. Bitter, dry taste features vanilla, caramel, and red grape flavors. Hot and boozy. I do get the rum. Perhaps too sweet after multiple sips. Dry aftertaste. Medium to heavy body. Pretty good beer overall.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours very dark with some spotty lace and a thin tan head. The aroma is really roasty and smokey with some char and licorice. The taste is fantastic. Nice and smokey with chocolate roast and dark fruit. There’s a bit of char and oaky rum flavor on the finish. The 40 year old rum barrel is definitely far in the background, however this beer has a great smokey taste with a clean finish. A bit thin on the palate but a great beer overall.

Bottle: Very dark brown with a tan head. Aromas are oaky... with an underlying sweetness. Taste gives me the rum... some chocolate and roastiness. Also some coffee here... very nice.

Dark brown to black with a tan head. The aroma has a ton of chocolate and rum. I also get some oak notes. The flavor also has some strong oak, rum and chocolate notes. I get some nice smoke and roasted malt notes. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Great beer.
