Aromas of intense rum, tropical fruit, spices, barrel, toffee, chocolate, oak, nougat and black tar.Appears black with a thin mocha foam. Taste is ridiculously smooth with dark malts, spices, chocolate and tropical rum upfront. More notes of toffee, prunes, roasted malt, roasted coffee, barrel wood, toffee, raisins and figs. Finishes smooth with a big boozey rum finish. Overall, not as intensely smoked as most beers. Smoke takes a back seat behind the rum barrel. The base beer alone is fantastic but the rum barrel gives such a fantastic twist. A rating.

Pours a three finger tan head that fades slowly to thin layer leaving some lace. Black color, no highlights. Light-medium carbonation and medium-heavy body. Rum nose and flavor is baked rum and licorice. High ABV is hidden. Lingering bitter finish. Pricey at $13.95 for a 22oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, MA.

Pitch black, 2 finger coffee color head. Really nice aroma. sweet, a lot of roasted notes, some fresh coffee and fudge candies. The taste is very unique. at the core, it’s a well balanced imperial stout. decent sweetness with a lot of roasted notes. The rum honestly dos not overpower at all. present but not intense. would drink quite a bit of this one.

750 ml bottle, 1/14/2015 stamped on the neck, thanks to Adrien for yet another share. Aroma is very good. Nice level of roast with chocolate, sugar and hints of rum.

The flavor shows a nice level of roast right upfront with a base of dark grain. Rum compliments the stout which is not always found with a rum barrel treatment. Body is what I want in a stout, medium leaning on full with a nice chewy texture. Alcohol is totally hidden. Can anybody tell me where Clown Shoes gets this huge amount of used barrels?? Anyone? Well... I really enjoyed this!

Bomber shared by Adrien, thanks! Pours nearly black with a chocolate brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, coffee. Flavor is dark chocolate, coffee, rum and oak. I don’t often like rum barrel beers, but this is quite good.

Poured from bottle thanks Adrien. Dark cola color with tan head. Aromas of roasted malt caramel rum vanilla and spice. Taste is sweet and syrup like and the rum barrels comes through. This is a solid beer to cellar.

Bottle. Dark cola with a thick khaki head. Aroma is soy sauce, roasted malt and a little cocoa. Taste focuses more on the roasted malt and adds fudge, marshmallow, lots of char and rum barrel sweetness. Rich sticky mouthfeel and moderate carb. Very good.

Bottled November 2013. Pours black with a short lived mocha head. this falls to a etched top with scattered bubbles. Smells smokey, with some graham, some oats, a little coffee and soil. Flavor is metal, smoke, raisin, bitter, bleh. Medium bodied with high carb for the style, dry. Meh, prolly never again.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted coffee, chocolate and smoke aroma. Medium to heavy toasted chocolate malt flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet bite finish of moderate to long duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a solid beer.

Bomber from EBF. Poured a great thick silky black with a dense beige head. Aroma/flavor is a touch too syrupy, dark rum, sweet sugary alcohol, lots of rotting grapes, rotten fruit, alcohol, grape juice. Meh, it’s a’ ight.
