3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ Danish Summer Gathering, Ulfborg 2011. Dark brown with an average brown head, that is quickly reduced to a thin but dense one. Very citric hoppy aroma, some caramel and malt in the background. Hoppy taste of citric fruit , pine, some caramel malts. Nice but a bit one dimensioned.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black with a good head. Aroma is a sort of burnt chocolate. Flavor is light yet has tons of bitter coffee and chocolate tastes, blending well with the hops. The finish is like that of having a chocolate covered coffee bean. A nice beer.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottled at Cask Pub & Kitchen, London. Black, huge head. Aroma of licorice and citrus. Medium-full body with rounded mouthfeel. Heavy licorice, some sugar. Caramelly, blown up body, salty bitterness. A fairly big beer without much depth or complexity.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle trade from Cedarville Spirits in Plymouth, MA. Pours dark black with a medium head. Some lacing on the glass. Tastes like a very decent IPA with a little something extra in the roast category. Iím a fan.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep dark brown coloured body with a bit of a cola coloured glow near the bottom of the glass and a large, three centimetre tall light brown head - looks simply great. Very pleasant aroma of fresh grapefruity and piney hops with a good roasted malt touch, some sweetness and at the very end - a slight hint of resin. Medium-bodied; Assertive roasty malt flavour up front with a good follow-up of fresh and potent cascade hops with a nice fresh grapefruit and citrus flavour. Aftertaste shows a bit of toffee and sweetness, but the bitterness really finishes it off with the hops really hitting home. Overall, a very well made black ipa showing a great balance and depth with the beer; A lot of good roasty malt tastes and the hops really come through - definitely worth trying this beer regardless if you like the style or not! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 20-July-2011 sampled at home in Washington on 11-December-2011.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Poured clear black color with a large frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt and earthy hop with a small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy dark bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a very good complex beer.

4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Clown Shoes Hoppy Feet is a solid black ale with a huge, lumpy, tan head that stays put and leaves outstanding lacing. It turns into a ceramic, nitrogen-looking head. Iíve never seen a head like that from a bottle. It has an aroma of sweet malt, grass, flowers and a soft roastiness. Itís full bodied, super smooth and creamy with a clean, dry finish. The flavor is a perfect balance between soft roastiness and a botanical bitterness. Thereís just a touch of sweetness that is erased in the bitter finish. The aftertaste is kind of ashy. Wow, I could drink a bathtub full of this. These Clown Shoes guys are really on the ball.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at CPK, London. Thanks Per! Pours opaque, brown-balck with a large, tan head. Aroma doesnít have a whole heck of a lot to offer, some moderate roast, faint hints of pine. Nice flavor, though not outstanding. Roasty, slightly rubbery malts, bits of pine, some earth. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Mild roasty finish, subtle peat and pine. Like a Black IPA lite. Not bad.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On draft at Bronx Ale House. My first from CS - their labels are a real hoot, and get my vote for funniest beer labels and names. Bitter West Coast-type hops dominate this very fine IPA. Lots of hoppy tingle and good taste. Iím hopful that I will get to try on more releases from the Shoes.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
bottle. black under small tan head. milk chocolate and citrus/piney hops in aroma that let the sweet chocolatey malts get most of the attention. flavor is very bitter and comes out as more of a bitter unsweet dark bakers chocolate with notes of white grapefruit. light to medium body. dry finish. a enjoyed the 1.5 more.
