COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoppy Feet has been lovingly crafted by combining premium malt with lots of Amarillo and Columbus hops.
Grapefruit and Pine are balanced on the nose and on the palate by a nutty, dark chocolate, roasted backbone.

Very nice beer. Not quite rich enough to be a stout, otherwise this could just be a really hoppy stout. Nice coffee and cocoa, slight ash in the finish. Hops are a touch harsh in the back, but pair nicely with the malt flavors.

Bomber pours black with a big beige head and good lacing. I could smell the cirtus and piney hops from 2 feet away. Aroma has lemon, chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. It looks like a porter but tastes bitter like an IPA. Lively carbonation and a medium body. The malts come out in the finish. I have no complaints about this one.

Bottle. Almost completely black, gigantic beige ice cream cone head. Aroma of pine, melted chocolate, coffee. Taste is very roasted coffee grounds and black pepper. Very hi carbonation detracts from the flavor.

Bottle. Nice hop up front, bit metallic through the middle. Good malt backings. Pours black with tan head.

My Bottom Line:
Roasted bread crumbs, dark chocolate and pine needles merge for a lengthy finish in this frothy, dry Black IPA.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A humongous foam mushroom erupts from the darkness, lacing all the way down the pint glass. This is obviously overly carbonated.
-Letting the beer breathe for a while helps the mouthfeel greatly.
-Licorice and dark fruit angles are also tasted.
-The first half of each sip is much less compelling than the multifaceted finish.
-Hops contribute citrus fruit as well.

Bottle.

Pours a dark brown/black. Smells of sweet citrus and malts. Dominant roasted malt flavor with strong coffee notes followed by citrus and spicy hops with a medium body. Spicy hop resin and coffee lingers in the aftertaste.

April ’11 bottle had in April ’12. Resin and grapefruit pith on the nose. Thick foamy head. Dark brown and lots of lacing. Very hoppy and bitter with a plusher feel of the darker malts. Good representation of the style but not a standout. Pretty good value.

Bomber poured into a duvel tulip. Extreme dark brown with a 2 finger tan head that shrinks to a quarter inch with nice lacing. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, pine, and toasted barley. Taste is toasted malt and barley, citrus, coffee, and semisweet chocolate are here too. Mouthfeel is thin to medium and it lingers. Real good black ipa

Thanks for sharing MMDan. Dark black pour with brown highlights, very thick tan rocky head. Aroma is chocolate and citrusy hop. palate is thin on the front. Dusty chocolate, hop is not as pronounced in the flavour as the aroma. somewhat chalky, then a nice lingering roasted malt finish.

More ipa than black but not in a bad way. Not getting a lot of roasty malt but am getting most of that pine and grapefruit aroma. Finish is mostly sticky pine flavors and a bitter finish that lasts a while. As an ipa it is tasty.
