Lovely, fresh hop smell. Holds a beige head. Dark, dry, black malt on the tongue followed by more of those fresh hops, tingling the tongue. Nutty with a touch of light fruitiness & bitter, burnt toast taste.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg at Brewdog. Dark brown, cloudy, small foamy tan head. Aroma is toffee, resin, orange liquer and pine. Body is medium, smooth, lowish carbonation. Taste is astringent hops, coffee, fizzy cola bottle sweets. Nice.

Back in WI - going for a hop fix. Awesome version of the style. Everything in balance, no alcohol. Excellent.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasted from draft. Pours black with a tan head. Good lacing. Aroma of roasted malts and floral and pine hops. Some coffee and chocolate notes. Taste is moderately bitter with some roasted malts as a backbone. Taste is similar to aroma. Medium bodied. Pretty good overall for a black IPA.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big pfft as the cap comes off. An aroma dominated by resinous, floral hops wafts from the bottle. Pours to settle with a good four inches of rocky, tannish foam that holds and needs to be chewed off. Body a midnight brown and misty to cloudy in clarity. In the glass the nose hints at camphor, pot pourri, burnt toast and mocha. Spicy and weedy on the palate. Hops dominate though there is a chalky, smoky malt profile that fits in well. Body is medium and oily in the finish with moderate carbonation. Dry swallow, plenty of length with a firm, lasting floral and spicy hop bitterness. Strong, blood orange and grapefruit tang to it with burgeoning raisin and nettle notes coming through. Sessionable number, I literally smashed it back way too easily for a 7.0 per center. Nice stuff! (12fl.Oz, Bottled on 12/09/13, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg from BrewDog, Edinburgh. Black body with ruby highlights. Thin beige head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of pine, cocoa and grapefruit. Flavour is very hoppy and bitter - pine needles, espresso and big citrus notes. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Reminds me of BrewDog’s Libertine, with added raw bitterness.

Bottle from beersiveknown - many, many thanks Steve! The black IPA pours out in a beautiful deep black colour with steady head and smooth body. Aroma of hops and herbs. Taste of fresh hops, dark berries, chocolat, herbs and spices. Coriander and pgrapefruit in the finish combined with nuts, spruce and flowers. Wonderful beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a deep brown almost black color. Aroma is a roasted malt, almost a burnt malt smell at times. Taste is full of dark chocolate and roasted flavor. A hint of pine nuts after the swallow and a minimum bitterness left on the palate. A good flavorful beer that was surprisingly smooth.
