COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoppy Feet has been lovingly crafted by combining premium malt with lots of Amarillo and Columbus hops.
Grapefruit and Pine are balanced on the nose and on the palate by a nutty, dark chocolate, roasted backbone.

Ash and whole orange aroma. Clear mahogany, thin tan head, good lacing. Charred oak and ash flavor with subtle lemon zest hints. Tar notes in the end. Nice mouthfeel. Hops are sparing or drowned out by the patent malt.

Color is a deep brwon black w/ an annoyingly large head even when poured carefully--looks real nice though. The nose here is thick and sticky w/ hops w/ a grassy vegital undertone and a bit of chocolate as well. The palate is nice and creamy but the earthy bitterness is a bit overbearing. It works decently w/ the ashy roast flavor but itís too strong to be balanced. This is a decent beer but one w/ some notable flaws.

My new fav style is DIPA so i got this bottle of a local version. 22oz bomber. Really dark beer with just some brown edging int he glass but a thick light tan head. The aroma is way piny with a good juicy citrus joining in. Maybe some sweet chocolate aroma just barley as well. The taste starts with a sweet hop citrus bitter but melds into a richer malt with elements of coal dust. Lingering bitter making for some lip smacking

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2011 Cask at the Get Real NY Cask Ale Event with Andrew, Streets, Brendan, and Linh. Pours a dark brown body. Aroma and taste blend flavors of hop along side roast, malt, and nut.

Beer bottled the first week of February, poured into my Rodenbach glass... The body is surprisingly dark sheeny glass black, like a moon rock, with a hint of clear crimson in the middle. Looks awesome. A light tan head with great retention and lacing. Best looking black ipa Iíve seen... The aroma instantly makes me think of a west coast dipa with wonderful fruity grass hop notes, bet this is even better fresh on tap. Once you get past the hops on the front there is a caramel backbone with a hint of smoke. Really really solid. My only complaint is that wish it was a little stronger... Wow, this is strong, threw me off guard for sure. Tons of char, ash, alcohol, very bitter pine hops, and a hint of chocolate. At first Iím almost disgusted way too strong, the more I drink and the warms settles a bit, however wish this was a touch more subtle with a better mixture; balance... The mouthfeel is very sticky with tons of lasting pine and alcohol.... The finish and alcohol make this a little tough to crush. One glass is enough for me, especially considering this is only 7%.

Poured a very dark brown with a half an inch of head. Aroma has some strong dark coffee as well as black bitter chocolate. The taste is heavy on citrus hops, mostly grapefruit and lemon peel. Otherwise, the dark coffee comes through pretty well on the aftertaste. Not too much complexity, though a decent beer nonetheless. Body is rather light/medium.

I like this Black IPA but it is a bit more mellow than I am used to. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Lacing on the glass is heavy. Malts upfront with slight hops coming through here and there. Great malty backbone. Hops are too absent here for me. Nice beer though and is great if you are new to Black IPA.

Deep black pour with a tight tan head. The nose is softly chewy with a lot of pine and light citrus over a fairly tarry black malt aroma. A little bit of earthiness on the palate. The body is nice and lean with a soft earthy peppery character. Light bitterness and just a hint of roast. Light ashiness and soft bitterness. A really damn tasty black IPA. Very piney assertive bitterness.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown cola color with a foamy off white head. Nose is cola, reding hop notes, cocoa. Palate is heavy but has a fluffiness to it, nice bitterness in the finish. Flavors of cola, reding hop notes, cocoa and grape skins.

Bottle, Pours a deep black body with a yellow off white head with good light retention and a sticky sides. Aromatically malty with pine notes, and some light earth a touch of soap. Not the normal grassy aromatics iím use to. A bit ash y a light roast y bitter chocolate tone, finishes very dry almost chalk like. Very roast y with a quickly bitter and drying finsh. Weak for style but a decent beer overall.
