Hoppy Feet has been lovingly crafted by combining premium malt with lots of Amarillo and Columbus hops.
Grapefruit and Pine are balanced on the nose and on the palate by a nutty, dark chocolate, roasted backbone.

The other Clown Shoes beer that was offered on tap for their tasting event at Lunar Brewing Co.. Dispensed to a logo shaker with a black/brown hue, modest but creamy, light tan head foam, and clingy dots & dashes of lacing. The nose was some cocoa roastiness, pungent hop presence with citrus and earthy expression, a touch of vanilla, and a sense of subtle creaminess. The flavor offered aggressive and lasting hop bitterness, maybe a little less than medium body, light creaminess to the mouthfeel, with an altogether bitter and dry finish. A decent representation of this new, popularized style.

YUM!!! Black IPAs are something new to me. I’m a hop head, and I only tried my first black IPA a few months back. This is my second. YUM! Take the best of a great Porter and mix in some great foral/citrus hops of an IPA and you have the Hoppy Feet! Coffee like aroma with a floral finish. First sip reveals that dark coffee/chocolate taste of a Porter but, finishes with a strong hop note. A nice citrus like bite. I really like this beer, and what this brewer is offering. Two for two so far! Try it!

Aroma: bread, chocolate, coffee, roasty, resin, Apperence: brown, black, hazy, minimal head, Taste: medium sweetness, medium bitterness, water hops and barley can to easily be tasted as seperate ingridients. As if water was added after boil. ??? Palate: light body, thin feel, average carbonation, astringent, Overall: Not a great beer. Not a good. i have had worse.

Opaque brown with a light tan head. Heavy pine hops and roast malt aroma. Roasty caramel malt and chocolate. Sweet beginning then very strong bitter finish. This might be a bit too bitter for me, but once your palate gets used to it, it’s pretty delicious. One of my first black ipas.

Pours thin black with white head. A black ipa that is very heavy on the hop side, there is a bit of imbalance here, and the malt backbone comes off slightly tinny rather than toasty and full. Still, this isn’t an unsuccessful brew by any means. Some nice citrus notes play well on the slightly sweet malt base, and there is a good balance between bitter and sweet.

any beer recieved from davey101. Out of a bomber this beer pours a clearer black color with a dark cream head. I smell the hops but more roasty caramel. Taste is very hoppy on the front but then finishes with vanilla and caramel. Nicely done

Stark, stimmig, trocken. Später dazu bitter, grasig, etwas gerstig. Sehr gut! 11/12/12/12/13/12

On draught @ The Olympic Tavern. Pours an extreme.y dark brown (almost black) with a thick tan head. Aromas of citrus, dark chocolate and caramel. Flavor of choclate up front with the hop bitterness coming through in the midde. Finish is citrus and bitter chocolate. Body is on the thin side. Black IPA or highly-hopped stout? Either way, pretty damned tasty.

Starts with good roasted flavors and then slides over to hoppy and bitter flavors. What I want a black ipa to taste like

(22 oz. bottle) Pours very dark brown with some brown highlights. Large khaki head settles to a lumpy cap. Aroma of citrus/grapefruit and light pine over dark caramel. Mouthfeel smooth, medium-heavy. Lots of weepy, webby rings of lacing stick to the glass. Sweet and hoppy flavor of citrus and light pine over dark caramel, vanilla and mild coffee roast. ABV mostly covered. Pretty good example of the style.
