3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Very dark brown - almost black, average to large and mostly diminishing light brown head. Moderate, malty and lightly sweetish aroma, roasted malt - some burnt malt, light coffee - licorice, some piney hoppyness. Body is medium, malty and dryish flavor, roasted malt some coffee and hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and dry, lots of roasted malt - some burnt malt light coffee coffee, some hoppyness. Dry (black) IPA with lots of (bit too much) roasted malt - burnt, finish gets bit too sharp.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Malt, pine hops, and a little metallic tinge in the aroma. Flavor starts with hop bitterness, with a little chocolate and citrus (and more bitterness in the finish). Good, but not great.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber bottled 2/12 into a Duvel tulip. Pours a dark ruby brown with a huge tan head and lots of bubbles. Decent lacing. Aroma is pine, citrus, malts, leather, and grass. Taste is malty up front. Citrus flavors come in with a bit of pine and cream. It finishes with a slightly sweet and smokey flavor. Mouthfeel is thin to medium and goes down pretty easy. Not bad.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Single 12 oz. at Binny’s for $1.50. Pours a very dark brown with a scrum of foam. Almost a sweet malt smell at first, then some hops start to assert themselves. Taste is more or less a hoppy stout, with some roasty bitterness from the grain, and then a bit of hop citrus note. Gotta say it lacks the smooth malts I usually find in a Black IPA. It reveals some interesting character as it goes down, but I can’t get away from my first impression of a hoppy and roasty stout.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Big head. Toasted malt and earthy aroma. Nice toasted malt taste with a bright overtone, but overcarbonated. Good, but would be better if the carbonation was less (or at least smaller bubbles). Might just be my bottle.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at home in London. Pours dark brown with a thick, rich beige foam head. Aroma holds a healthy dose of roasted malts, along with some sweet cocoa, burnt wood, grapefruit. Medium sweet flavor, lots of charred wood, some licorice, burnt grass, bitter earth, some dark sugars. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with some decent resins, heavy roasted malts, lots of charred wood, almost abrasive burnt grass, some ripe citrus, especially grapefruit. There are some interesting characteristics in here, but the bitterness also comes across a touch harsh in the end, and the citrusy fruits seem a bit unrealised. Still decent overall, but not everything it could be.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark mahogany pour with a tightly-packed latte head. Caramel, coffee, cocoa, roasted malt in the nose with only a hint of citrus. Similarly, way more dark flavors than bright, biting bitterness. With the style, always hoping for more IPA than porter. This, unfortunately, is the later...although the hops are noticeable.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a dark brown with an oppressively thick tan head. Has a bit of hoppy bitterness to the nose, though you can detect the malty undertones there. Not very bitter, but a good bite from the hops.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours very dark, almost black with a slight ruby hue. Aroma of herbal hops and some roasty malt. Taste is light bitter. Very malt dominated. Roasty with coffee and a little earthy herbal hops. Light bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, not bad. I’d drink it again but not seek it out.
