3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 6, 2012 Chilled after room temp shelved for some number of months.Slightly froze, heavy hiss when opening and a massive head.Black with a tan head great lacing.
Aroma was all a light somewhat metallicy at first with a thin airy citrus scent chocolate notes come as it warms, fresh light citrus with chocolate seems to stand out most with very light sweet grainy roast notes.
Taste has a nice smoothness with good hop presence with a lightness from the citrus but somewhat medium bodied but overall seems light with a nice roast towards the finish with a chocolate background citrus hops up front.Pretty nice black session ale really, very drinkable with a nice roasty chocolate and bittering. I could see this being in a can,and i would love to take it outdoors and have a few of these.Overall taste is really nice.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours dark black with a huge tan head. Overcarbonated from the loos of it. The nose is roasted coffee, nuts, flour and resin. The taste is sweet with a good amount of bitter. The mouthfeel is like pop rocks. To much carbonation. The body is light, the finish is medium., It’s ok.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours almost black with a good sized brown that fades to ring. Leaves nice lacing. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, and licorice. Taste is coffee, bitter chocolate, piney hops, and some subtle orange in the background. Really nice bitterness up front and a lasting bitter chocolate aftertaste. Pretty interesting.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: FEB 3, 2012 Pours very, very dark brown, almost black with a creamy tan head. Smells strongly roasted with hints of orange, almost like orange flavored dark chocolate. Taste is primarily a dry, roasted bitterness with hints of orange, though very faint; but the flavors really explode when the beer warms up. Medium-bodied with a dry texture and mild mouth-carbonation, Clown Shoes Lubrication finishes with a mild dry bitterness.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. The pour is black with a lot of over carbonation, thinking infection. The taste is heavy malt and actually tastes under carbonated weirdly. A decent black ale.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle@ SF. Very dark with mocha head. Smells kind of like something you should huff. Tastes toasty and herbaceous. Very stark and dry. Interesting. I’m not sure off I like this or not.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Malt, pine hops, and a little metallic tinge in the aroma. Flavor starts with hop bitterness, with a little chocolate and citrus (and more bitterness in the finish). Good, but not great.
