Lube? Hey, get your mind out of the gutter! Social lubrication, people coming together to unwind, is what we are talking about. This American Black Ale has a dark body, medium bitterness, balanced with West Coast hops and sweet orange peel.

Bottle shared with Steve and co. Forgot who brought this, but thanks! Black appearance with a light brown head. Fairly roasty, chocolate malty, moderately citrusy/piney hoppy aroma. Pretty easy drinking flavor with notes of char, chocolate, light smoke, piney, and citrus.

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2013 650ml bottle thanks to Joes. Opaque pitch black color, full sized light brown head that lasts for quite a long time. Smell and taste malts, hops, slightly some fruits and moderately bitter. Fizzy carbonation, ok body. Overall a bit disappointing and too highly carbonated.

Fresh from Premiere Gourmet. Opaque black bodied Average mouthfeel, aggressive carbonated. Average mouthfeel. The roast without significant hops . Still very good drinkability.

Pour out of bottle, thanks to Steve! Pour is dark brownish almost black with off white head, aroma has notes of resinous pine, grass, and a mix of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee notes. Taste is resinous and dank pine and grassy notes, hints of fruity orange and grapefruit, touch of roasted coffee and chocolate, finishes fairly bitter with a bit more pine. Pretty decent.

650 ml bottle. Bottled 8/11. From Kihoskh, Copenhagen, Denmark.
Black colour with ridiculously big tan frothy head. Piney hops and roasted malt in aroma. Excellent Black IPA aroma. Like walking through the coniferous forest with malt and chocolate with you. Flavour is very smooth with mild hops and roasted malt. Low carbonation. Very drinkable and tasty but quite simple Black IPA.

Bomber. Pours dark black with 2-finger well-retained tan head. Nose is chocolate malt and cacao, resiny piney hops. Tastes malty, with cacao and big resiny hops. Medium palate heft and complexity. Smooth and hoppy finish.

On tap @ Radio Maria. Very dark brown with a light brown head. Sweet mocha and dark caramel aroma. Less intensely flavoured then the aroma suggests, and I found the hard roasted flavours were quickly swept away by bitter, pithy hops. A tad thin on top of it all. Chalky dry finish.

Bottle. Pours a deep black with a thin to medium sized beiged tan head. Rather hoppy roast, citrus and lemony notes over a roasty malt background. Medium bodied, big roast features prominently, chocolate and toast. Long roast and chocolate on the finish, cocoa, earthy with some more roast. Nice, easy drinking, well done.

Bottle. Pours with a deep brown hued body with a lasting off-white head. Aromas are of orange, citrus, pine, faded, tea, caramel, bready, mild roast. Iced tea and marmalade (i.e. faded hops with a lot of crystal malt). Flavors are thin, bland, and watery with mild diacetyl. Some light citrus, bready, mild bitterness. Lighter carbonation. Not a big fan of this one.
