COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lube? Hey, get your mind out of the gutter! Social lubrication, people coming together to unwind, is what we are talking about. This American Black Ale has a dark body, medium bitterness, balanced with West Coast hops and sweet orange peel.

Pours a black color with a smallish sized tan head. Aroma of roasted malts with some light citrus and grapefruit. Flavor of roasted malts, coffee, light citrus hops towards the finish. A bit light on hops for a Black IPA but still quite good.

Aroma is - ZOMG, what a great aroma, strong, oily, smoky, with notes of molasses, hops and licorice plus a hint of miso. It pours an opaque warm sable with a thick, fine-bubbled and rather persistent light tan head that leaves some generous lacing. Satisfying flavor has a hop-bitter overtone plus notes of roast malt, licorice and molasses. Texture is smooth, a teeny bit watery, fairly fizzy and a little dusty. Overall, a worthy brew.

On tap @ Radio Maria. Very dark brown with a light brown head. Sweet mocha and dark caramel aroma. Less intensely flavoured then the aroma suggests, and I found the hard roasted flavours were quickly swept away by bitter, pithy hops. A tad thin on top of it all. Chalky dry finish.

Beaucoup de houblons floraux et de torréfaction en arôme avec un côté métallique. En bouche c’est tout en rondeur pour une bière de cette grosseur. Le goût est une combinaison de houblons floraux mais principalement végétaux et de café noir. Correct.

Dee deep back pour. Very malty. Both in taste and aroma. Crosses that line into stout much more so than other black lagers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Ft. Lauderdale. Pours almost black with a fluffy tan head. Aroma is of roast, chocolate, some light citrus hops and some floral notes. Taste is caramel, chocolate, some nice pine and citrus hop notes, licorice and a solid dose of bitterness on the finish. I liked this one.

Bottle:   Black, edges of cola, moderate sudsy sandy head, few rings of lacing.   Satsuma or tangarine aroma.   Otherwise roasty, faint cocoa and chocolate graham cracker.   Very mild bitterness on the tongue, pale roastiness, cocoa, and musty blankets.   Average body and mouthfeel.   Slightly dry finish, cocoa (bakers, dark and bittersweet), slight hoppiness (very slight), with a little bit of lactose.   Not bad, but subtle to moderate on most levels.   Not a bright or vibrant example for sure.   Black Pale Ale... yeah, probably.

650ml bottle. Looks dark and mysterious in he glass with a deep black colour and a big beige frothy top. The aroma is mild with some hops and citrus coming through. In the mouth there are malty burnt flavours coming through with a low bitterness level.
