Our third anniversary beer up-sizes Chocolate Sombrero, using extra ancho chile and adding chipotle pepper. We aged the brew 100% in Wild Turkey and Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. May it leap onto your palate majestically, like a luchador who flies into the ring from atop the highest rope.

This beer pours dark with a small dark head that doesn’t linger much. It smells of vanilla, chocolate and oak. Taste is very sweet up front a lot of barrel on this one followed by chocolate and vanilla with a very slight hint of peppers at the end. More a bit of heat you get when the sip is done

This one poured an almost black color with a beige head. Aroma was of lots of bourbon and chocolate, not really and chile at all. Falvor was similar, nice BA stout, big broubona nd chocolate, but disappointing heat.

This was a sample pour from Dark Lord Day 2014 bottle sharing. Poured into my tasting glass a near black color with a tan head. Nose of chocolate malts with a little spice from the chili. Medium plus in body with a lively mouthfeel. The flavor is dominated by the chocolate and chili is in the finish, Nice beer.

Bottle. Pours jet black, lingering tan head. Aroma is strong milk chocolate presense, some cotton candy, booze. Taste is thick, velvety chocolate, a little heat on the back end from the peppers, some dark, bitter coffee. Really deep flavors that mix well. Solid.

Sampled at DLD 2014. It poured a dark brown color with a light tan head. The aroma was of roasted malts, chocolate with some bourbon and alcohol. The taste was of dark roasted malt flavors with bourbon and some wood with chocolate and slightly boozy. Very good.

Bottle from Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours dark brown with a transient tan head and a chocolate and treacle aroma. There is a rich chocolate and dark molasses flavor with a bourbon finish. The chili pepper is mild but adds a nice layer.

Bottle. The look is dark, black in color, and has a tan head. The smell is bourbon, wood, alcohol, sweet, hot, and rich. The taste is much the same hot alcohol bourbon smell, and not bad.

22 oz bottle shared with drsordr. Pours dark brown to black in color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma and flavor have a nice mix of roasted malts, chocolate, spices, smooth bourbon, vanilla, a hint of dark fruit, wood with a nice alcohol burn. I enjoy the Clown Shoes stuff I’ve had quite a bit.
