COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our third anniversary beer us sizes Chocolate Sombrero, using extra ancho chile and adding chipolte pepper. We aged the brew 100% in Wild Turkey and Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. May it leap onto your palate majestically, like a luchador who flies into the ring from atop the highest rope.

wishing for more barrel influence in this one. I was expecting this to be the runaway as my favorite clown shoes beer, as I love the combo of ingredients and the barrels, but everything (while very nice) was just so...restrained. Smaller of body than expected, but smooth. Alchol comes on the nose and the aftertaste a little. Bitter cocoa, very light spices, roast, and light bourbon and vanilla. Very good, coulda been better."

From notes, consumed on 7/25/2013. 22 oz bottle into a Belgian snifter. Black with almost a finger of tan head. Decent lacing. Aromas of toasted coconut, bourbon, dark fruit, chocolate. Tastes of dark chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, light peppers. Medium-full body with a dry finish.

22 ounce bottle, bottled on 02/25/14. Served in a DFH snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head that fizzled away quickly. There isnít much lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like bourbon, vanilla, chili peppers, chocolate, and roasted malt. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but thereís also a bit of woodiness and smoke noticeable. All the flavors mesh well together, I donít think any of them are overpowering. The peppery heat in this is very mild, itís more of a vegetal pepper than a spicy pepper flavor. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís coating and creamy with moderate carbonation. Overall I liked this brew, but then I liked their Chocolate Sombrero too. I think that the barrel aging improved the brew a little bit, definitely worth a try if youíve never had it before. $14.99 a bottle.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized brown head. Aroma is malts, some liquor, bourbon on there for sure. Taste malts, lightly some roasted malts, bourbon, some nuts, vanilla, wood. Warming alcohol, perfect slight addition of peppers just like Berghoeve Hammer Brand Chili Porter (a Dutch beer, hard to come by but highly recommend), a hint of liquorice as well, a bit sweetish. Medium to full body, medium carbonation.

Bottle @ benzai. Pitch black small off-white to beige head. Smells walnut, roasty, bourbon, some coffee. Tastes bourbon, roasty, sweet, brown sugar, some caramel, chocolate, nuts. Full body, nice carbo.

Bomber. Not a heavy aroma, bourbon barrels and some vanilla. Strong boozy at first and finishes with a light spice. Ends on palate with spice and bourbon.

On tap at Oítooles. Pour is deep brown with a small beige head. Aroma and flavor of roasted coffee, bourbon, pepper spice, molasses, and dark chocolate. Body is boozy and sweet at first and transitions into a spice and pepper finish. Good.

Opened the bottle and it exploded (volcano onto the counter). Damn waste, I think. After the mayhem, I poured a liquid into the glass, black as the hinges of hell and a dark chocolate head, thick and soft. I taste heavy, boozy bourbon like a smack in the face and adjust to the sensation. Love bourbon, but wasnít expecting that! I tried to see any light through this beer and saw absolutely nothing. That is a first for me. Actually quite exciting to see something that dark. The chocolate was pronounced on my first swallow, with a little roasted coffee bean; but as the brew warms I am experiencing that chile coming through in excellent style, the aroma encased in cinnamon but not delivered in the flavor. This is terribly complex; a thick, soft palate and a smooth, warm finish. This is a brew I would love to have again, perhaps after a nice, heavy, winter meal. Or with one!

Bomber into a snifter. Classic motor oil black pour. Coa-coa colored head thin and wispy, short lived. Aroma is chocolate, caramel, big bourbon and oak notes and pepper. Taste is chocolate sweetness up front with bourbon and hops in the back. Lingering flavor of coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla and a hint of the spicy peppers. The bourbon heat is present on the way down in a warming way. As it warms it's less hot and malt flavors really open up. Really nice imperial stout.

Smells malty, with chocolate and Bourbon. Can definitely smell the peppers and chipotle, best beer Iíve had with these. Very nice brown head, thick and lasting. Tastes fantastic, a lot of maltiness, vanilla and chocolate, bourbon taste with the peppers on the end. Goes down smooth, very nice mouthfeel. Excellent beer and well worth the money. Clown shoes almost always shows up to impress.
