pours a deep, golden orange with fluffy white head. aroma is sweet candied citrus fruits, yeast, and citrus hops. taste starts with more candied fruit - like orange or apricot jam - along with spice, biscuit, and some light caramel notes. citrusy hops start to show up in the finish, with just a bit of tartness. syrupy and resinous. very enjoyable.

Tap at Happy Gnome. Bowling pin style glass. Wheelhouse orange color with a slight haze. Lacing is impressive. Aroma has mostly citrus and yeast. Hop comes out to play too. Taste is also citrus at the onset and finish. Almost straddles the line of a double IPA and a Belgian tripel. Alcohol well hidden. Officially, the first muffin top I would welcome in a warm embrace.

Bottle. Poured a hazy dark golden color with a fluffy white head. Aroma was yeast, light sweet fruits, with some notes of caramel and toffee. Flavor was malts, light spice notes, some candi notes. Alcohol flushes the cheeks and warms the face pretty quickly.

"Agreed this is quite a treat. More different from original Dark Lord than I thought it’d be. Quite sweet, but so damn smooth you just don’t care. Not better than the original (trades complexity for a little extra smoothness and a different flavor/aroma) but just as good as a year old bottle, and that’s saying a lot. Brandy influence there, but not overbearing. The vanilla is prominent on top of all the chocolate/coffee/licorice/tar aspects of the original. This tasted like a 15% abv cookie. "

Hazy dark golden. Sins of Belgian yeast and citrusy hops. Flavour is some sweet Belgian candi sugar, with slightly resinous hops, nicely blended compared to slot of others I’ve tried in this style.
