COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is Blaecorn Unidragon made with Beechwood Smoked malt, which adds a natural meaty note (there is no actual meat in the brew). Aged 100% in bourbon barrels. Little piggies run, squeal to the heavens: Clown Shoes wishes you luck.

Bomber. Pours an opaque stouty brown-black, medium espresso head that dissipated quickly, nice lacing though. Nose is fat with bourbon barrel, toffee and brown sugar, dried fruit (mainly dates and raisins). Mouth is oily with boozy barrel and caraemlly sugars up front, dark roast, coffee and some smoky soot on the mid, finishes out with a malty and ABV warmth. Solid.

Tap at the Hay Merchant, Houston, 21/05/13. Mid black with a thin tan head. Nose is dark malt, boozey hit, sugars, dark toffee, light smoke. Taste comprises roast malt, wood, liqourice, dark chocolate, sugars, aniseed, bourbon notes. Full bodied with warming alchocol in a bitter roasted booze’o’clock curtain call. Decent enough Impy stout but a little over boozey, the balance isn’t quite there but I enjoyed this more than the standard Blaecorn, the BA seems to have tempered some of the booze.

UPDATED: FEB 27, 2014 Poured in goblet from 22oz bottle. Dark color, minimal head, good aroma, reminds me of coffee and chocolate. Taste is smooth for a BA stout. Overall good beer, not too much of a burn at the end

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a medium frothy beige head. The arooma is roasted malt, oak, and bourbon. Medium mouthfeel with strong bourbon, oak, chocolate and smoke. Good

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Vanilla and oak aromas. Soft with chocolate and rum-soaked pit fruit. Lasting bitter hot chocolate and espresso finish.

Draft at Jerry’s. Black with modest, creamy, tan head (barrel-aged), light legs / Smooth nose of chocolate, coffee, bourbon barrel, cream / Medium to full body, chewy, some sweetness with nice hop balance, and dry, lightly bitter finish, alcohol well masked / Rich, flavors of bittersweet chocolate, roast coffee, bourbon barrel, coconut, cream, vanilla, smoke / Very nice, with bourbon aspect restrained.

22oz bomber pours with a very dark body that supports a weak mocha head. The aroma offers up earthy chocolate, some toffee sweetness and dark roasted coffee. The taste is smooth and bold and rich with a yummy mix of rich dark chocolate and mild bacony smoke and then quickly rolling into dark roasted coffee and a firm degree of booze that’s rimmed with a soft bourbon note. This has incredible balance creating rich depth and interest without going off the deep end. A nice sipper for sure.

Bomber poured into snifter. Pours black with a pencil thin white head that dissipates. Thin soapy lacing that doesn’t stick. Aroma is malt, smoke, and a subtle sweetness that could be molasses. Taste is a smoky malt up front with a strong aftertaste of char and wood. Tastes burned. The bourbon is notable on the back end but not as pronounced as I expected. The alcohol level is masked well but packs a punch. Not bad, but the Blaecorn Unidragon is superior to this.

Bottle. Deep black with a light brown head. Lacing is light. Aroma of smoke, coffee, roast, and maybe a hint of vanilla and wood. The smoke is mild, and I can’t really smell bourbon. There’s more bourbon barrel in the taste though it still isn’t very pronounced; it’s a lot more wood, but not really much bourbon. The 12.5% is masked quite well. Full bodied. Quality brew, though I was hoping the smoked malt and bourbon would be bigger players.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2013 Tap at Happy Gnome. Thick dark pour. Very roasty, rich, bourbon, and a very dry finish. Awesome.
