COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Descended from a notorious clan of Scottish lore, head brewer Dan Lipke channeled the Tartan tapestry encoded in his DNA to create a formidable Wee Heavy. The beer has been aged 100% in fresh bourbon barrels. Ask yourself, “Who needs to ride the lion?”

poured from bomber into teku. Terrible smell. Somewhat sour, baking soda, funky. I thought this thing was totally skunked at first. Luckily, the flavor was ok. Thinner than expected with a little too much carbonation. Boozy with a pronounced alcohol finish. The wee heavy backbone is decent, but sits in the background. It needed to stand up more against the barrel. Smooth enough for 11%, but not nearly as refined or complex as it needed to be for $13

Pours clear mahogany with a frothy and fairly persistent buff head. Strong aroma has bold caramel, fresh-cut wood, toasty malt, bourbon and earthy tones that drag the drinker closer. Flavor roars with bourbon-infused oak, roast malt, caramel, earthy and subtle hoppy tones. Firm texture has some good fizz, and leaves a not-so-subtle bourbon bite. Ride this lion - but please try not to get roaring ripped.

Bomber from Puerto Rico Food & Liquor, cellar aged 6 months at cellar temp. This was an offering after the Scotch Ale tasting for St Patricks Day, and shared with ck1 & Jan. Not included in the tasting as barrel aged offerings were to be excluded ... or this may have won. Reddish brown pour with some streaky lace. Aroma has whiskey, brown sugar and some butterscotch with light peat. Taste is of butterscotch, light whiskey, some toffee and faint peat. Fairly sweet. Smoothly long butterscotch-with-whiskey sweet finish. 14.4

Bottle... Pours mostly clear and dirty-orange with a brief, off-white head. The aroma is an odd, but pleasant collection of caramel, medium-dry brown sherry, raw beef and a hint of oak. Medium-bodied and sticky with adequate carbonation. The flavor is a tasty marriage of sweet caramel and boozy bourbon with a warming finish. Quite pleasant. Bottle courtesy of darkguardian!

Bottle from Hop City on my Atlanta visit. Pours murky amber colored with a toe finger creamy off white head. Nutty aroma with lots of bourbon and very dry oak, caramel, toffee, some vanill. Flavor is a nice blend of big time bourbon and lots of dark fruits, very oaky vanilla finish, caramels and biscuity malts abound. Plus bodied with more than adequate carbonation, smooth. Overall se nice things going on here. A bit dryer than I like my BA beers but stil comes together nicely.

Bottle. Bourbon, raisin, and caramel malt aroma. Cloudy brown with minimal head. Sweet rock candy/caramel malt, raisin, and mildly bitter herbal alcohol flavor. Nice body. Pleasant.

22 oz. bottle purchased at One Stop Market stamp on neck reads 6/19/2014. Hazy color garnet color with soapy lace. Aroma is very mellow bourbon and sticky figs dipped in caramel. Rather sweet flavors with a sticky mouthfeel from Toffee caramel and dark fruit. Bourbon helps round out the by adding a little alcohol burn with a warming finish.
