This bottled brew from a restaurant poured a head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a typically carbonated transparent cola brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The mild aroma was musty. The sharp crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and strongly tingly at the finish with a lingering caramel hop aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of mildly bitter velvety smoothness mild nut sweet brown malt caramel and hops. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

22 oz bottle from a snifter. Pours a slightly hazy amber brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet caramel, toffee, some dark fruit, some earthy notes, a sneaky hint of peat, but the flavor fades toward the finish somewhat which was disappointing, I usually like their bigger beers, but this one lacked the pop so many others have had.

My first scotch ale.. Pours a dark, dark, brown with a white head. Smells of oak and dark fruit. Taste is sweet with a warming alcohol taste at the end that you definitely feel, but isn’t at all overpowering. Plan to get another one of these soon.

Brown color with a falling medium head. Sweet caramel and toffee aroma with a bit of floral and perfume character. Hot, boozy impact up front. Sweet malt. Light floral. Some dry grain notes. A bit astringent.

Aromas of dark malts, caramel, nougat, toffee, peanut butter and oak. Appears dark brown with no foam. Taste is peanut butter, caramel, pistachio, latte, nougat, toffee and mocha. Overall, very simple but very delicious. Lots of peanut butter and caramel. B rating.

Pours clear deep amber with one finger of light beige head diminishing rapidly to a thin cap, minimal lacing. (3/5) Nose is dark fruit, caramel malt, spices, tobacco, leather, earth. (7/10) Taste is moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (7/10) Medium slightly creamy body, lively carbonation becoming soft, warming and mildly bitter finish. (3/5) Nothing “wee” about this - is “big heavy bastard” a style (as opposed to a description of myself)? Starts off feeling a bit hot. OK, fine, a lot hot. But as the bottle progresses, things smooth out a little. The carbonation is not unpleasant, even if it’s a touch prickly on the outset, and it settles down giving a slightly creamy body. (13/20)

Aroma is fruit, spices/cooking spices and malts. The flavor is fruit, malts, caramel, spices, mild sweetness and a mix of light citrus and warming alcohol in the finish.
