A big ol? DIPA from what is becoming one of my favorite US craft brewers. Apricot amber pour with thin white head. Aroma of mostly peach and mandarin. Initial sip is oily s.tonefruit which shifts to a long resinous DIPA finish of pine, grapefruit and more resinous pine. Hides the 9% and with ease

650 ml bomber bottle bought at Wai Shing Wine & Spirits on Kau Yuk Road, Yuen Long.

Looks: Translucent straw amber colour with a ring of dirt-like yeast sediments ; Two and a half finger head with crumpety off-white foam which last for 4 minutes; Beautiful sticky lacing with near zero carbonation.

Aroma: Very fragrant rich Ale malt, with very strong blueberry, tangerine, strong floral, honey, pine, resins, biscuits, yeast, lemon peels and fresh grass.

Taste: Strong sweet rich Ale malt, with strong grapefruits, caramel, floral, strong molasses, strong pine, strong resins, spices, bread, yeast, strong lime, strong bitter hops and strong grass.

Body: Full body. Oily and very oozy palate.

Mouth Feel: Wholesome Ale maltyness and a thick strong background. Very rich with nice molasses just screaming out! Strong grapefruit and caramel set the tone with strong floral, strong pine, very spicy resins to match the strong limey hops. The 9% booze is quite well hidden. Strong in every sense but strangely none of the elements went overboard like most IIPAs. Very nice!

Hoppiness: Strong blueberry, tangerine, strong floral, pine, resins, lemon peels and fresh grass in nose. Grapefruits, floral, strong pine, strong resins, spices, strong lime and strong grass in taste; Bitterness is close to strong for a lasting, high astringent limey malty finish.

After Taste: Fairly dry. Citrusy oozy and bitter to mouth.

Comments: This is a finely-toned big beer - rich malts with right sweetness. Mosaic hops is exceptionally strong in blueberry aroma and limey citrus and oozy taste, yet it is so well-controlled without annoying or domineering feels to it. Well executed and highly recommended!

Rated on 9-01-2016 at 800 Degrees Three Fires, Fort Wayne, IN. This draft beer’s appearance is a small off-white head that is mostly lasting, golden transparent body, very little carbonation noted, and a good amount of lacing adorned the glass. The aroma presents citrus hops, floral, and tropical fruit. The flavor presents moderate bitterness, citrus hops and tropical fruit. The mouthfeel of this beer is light-moderate carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. This beer is not overly bitter or hoppy tasting for the style. It is very drinkable and it has a light bitter aftertaste. This beer is worth trying and a beer that I would partake in again.

Not sure why I’ve passed this by so many times. Pours a slightly hazy dark golden with clingy top of white. Aroma is of peach, mango, apricot, and a bit of bread. Flavor is so balanced - just the right tang of hop, never biting or bracing, smoothed throughout the sip by a perfect malt backing. Smooth, perfectly lower carbonation, clean finish, and easy drinking.

Keg at Yard House. It pours clear amber with a small beige head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, pink grapefruit, marmalade, watermelon, pine and grass. The taste is crisp, bitter, piney, grapefruit, pithy citrus, peppery spice, green grassy vibe, varnish, mild astringency and a touch of alcohol with a dry, grapefruit finish. Medium + body and moderate, prickly carbonation. A pretty decent Dipa all in all.
