Bottle from tomahawk bar and restaurant, southbank brisbane, poured into tulip glass, aromas of passion fruit and grapefruit, the taste is rich and spicy, and an satisfying aftertaste, great beer

Dark orange to red color. Big frothy white head. Big chewy caramel malt body. Delicate light tangerine and orange hops. Doesn’t quite hold up to the malt aggressiveness so you get a lot more of the malt than you do of the hops. There are still enough there to make it entertaining though.

Bottled about a month ago according to the date on the bottle. Pour has a rich amber color with a one finger off white head that hung around well. Aroma has sweet candy hops, resins, some bitterness, and a solid malted core. Mouth feel is medium full and the carbonation average. Flavor certainly smacks out the hops, resins, mid range bitterness, citrus, pines, some sweetness, and an equally hefty malted body. A big bruiser of a double ipa but I will finish with three points.

1) Clown shoes has never wowed me but always has solid offerings.
2) The price on this bottle was totally reasonable at 6 bucks and change with tax and deposit
3) Clown shoes dates the bottles so I know it is within the freshness window I like and can assure it is fresh!

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Space Cake DIPA is a hazy honey amber liquid with a firm head of small white bubbles. Nose is crisp with pine hops. Taste is initially quite crisp and a little sweet, then there is some almost lemon like citrus midtaste followed up by the expected pine bitters on the finish. a very nice evolving taste that just works. Body is lively and a bit satiny. A very nice beer.

Pours a dark amber with a frothy, tan head. Nose is malt and hops with a bit of peatyness and fruit. Hint of strawberry. Taste is well-balanced. Pronounced hop bitterness, especially in the aftertaste, which lingers long. Medium body. Vigorous carbonation. Tasty brew!

Another east coast brewery throwing around the term "west coast" in their IPAs when it’s not called for. This was a good beer, but since west coast IPAs are considered hop forward, not sure what they mean by "west coast style malt backbone". This beer defines east coast IPA. Strong caramel malt aroma with a little resin and toffee. Pour was a nice dark gold with a one finger off white head. Taste was very malty. Strong caramel flavors balanced by a hotness that was part alcohol and part bitter hops. I prefer IPAs/IIPAs to be hop forward like the west coast does, but this wasn’t bad

Pours an amber gold color with a white head. Hop, resin, pine, citrus and malt aroma. Big hop, resin, grapefruit, caramel, biscuit, pine, malt and some alcohol flavors. Medium body and carbonation and predominant bitterness. Resinous hop and citrus finish.

Taverner (1098) - San Ramon, California, USA - SEP 5, 2014
Pours a hazy shade of amber. A whiter shade of brown. A sickle cell tequila. Maltier than I like it, but there is still a nice nose -- although I think it faded in the trip to California from Ipswitch. Malty, but OK. I need to try this fresh.

Bottle. Moderate to heavy roasted cereal and caramel for the malt, heavy grapefruit and orange juice for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with date and mango skin in the background. Head is average size, frothy/creamy, white with excellent lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is hazy orange/amber. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately sweet and heavily bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily with a carbonation between soft and lively. Nice malt-hop balnce in this top notch DIPA.

Atlanta, Ga. - Hop City - 22 oz. bottle. Dark orange pour, off white head, light lacing.. Fresh fruity syrupy aroma with some juicy fruit gum, some spruce notes. Flavor has some sweet biscuit notes, a touch of fruit salad, some raw cake mix, yes it does taste like cake mix. Nice sticky mouthfeel.
