UPDATED: OCT 3, 2014 Very malty aroma leads into a boozy malty vaguely bitter flavor. I find the flavors rather harsh and overly boozy. Where are the hops???

22oz bottle. Large off-white head atop murky amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, orange/grapefruit, some pineapple, bread. Taste is moderately sweet, orange, pineapple, some grapefruit, mango light bread. Medium body, fairly clean with light resin.

Pour on tap at Happy Gnome, hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of nice orange juice, grapefruit, mango, slight peach into bread, biscuit. Taste was a mix of orange peel, grapefruit, mango, nice resin, pine into a bit of biscuit, more sweet fruit, finishing dry and bitter.

Pours a cloudy amber with a thick off white head. Aroma is malty with citrus. Taste is spicy with heavy bitterness on the tongue. Notes of citrus, malt, and spice. What an interesting beer. It is a double IPA so it’s got a ton of hops, but it’s still pretty smooth on the backend.

Deep amber pour with an off-white head. Aroma is citrus/fruity hops/. Taste is a finely balanced beer. Malty upfront with citrusy hops in the end. Sweet and creamy. Lacing indicated with each sip taken. Very tasty DIPA for under $6.

Great beer, lots of fruit, caramel, nuts... in the nose. Taste is quite bitter at the start, but lingers gracefully.

On draught. Moderate low citrus hops and slight caramel. Light copper-gold with sustained white head an amazing pattern down the glass. Flavor has more citrus than aroma and resinous. Moderate high bitterness. This beer is well balanced and hides the alcohol well.

I have purchased a bunch of these bombers in the last month or so and every time I either forget or get too drunk (or both) to leave a review, so this last one I wrote down a few key points. "Very different, weird, fruitty, IPA taste. Cake definitely seems appropriate in the title, like an IPA cake, very strong, I just fell down. So there you go.

(Bottle sample at tasting, VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Jan 26, 2015) Pours hazy medium orange gold with a big lacy white head and lace. Aroma pretty malty, lots of really bitter orange peel and spruce, coconut? I thought of Sorachi at the time, tasting without knowing the hops. On the palate, caramel malt with a bit of grain, spruce, bitter orange pith, again a bit of coconut. Pretty blended hoppy bitter finish. Astringent bitter aftertaste. Little alcohol heat on the finish. Moderate body and average carb. This is a pretty good DIPA, stylistically I prefer a brighter and fruitier, tropical style but no real knock against it. Different strokes.

Sample at a tasting event. Amber body with a minor head. A solid tropical fruit bomb.
