22oz bottle: pours a clear deep golden with a clingy-lacing froth of white head. Has a fresh resinous hoppy nose with some light malty sweetness. Starts with pretty good fullness and body with good carbonation and clean sweetness well-balanced with lots of juicy hop flavor and bitterness. Finishes drier and bittersweet. True to style and enjoyable.

Suttree (5177) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 8, 2012
Brownish gold, thin but dense beige head. Caramel and grapefruit aroma, pretty much the that the flavors, as well. Seems to kind of be creeping up on DIPA strength...

Pours a hazy, dark golden orange color with tangerine edges and a half finger white foam head that slowly fades into a thin ring.  Spotty lace left behind. Dank, resinous hop aroma with grassy pine and floral notes all countered by sweet citrus and tropical fruit.  Very floral but has strong grapefruit, pineapple and orange peel character.  Subtle pale malt and booze as well. Medium bodied with a lingering earthy hop character up front that dominates the flavor with a lot of dry bitterness.  One dimensional hop profile with hardly any of the sweetness or citrus/tropical fruit found in the nose.  More sweet booze than expected with faint pale malt notes, notably bread and biscuit.  Kind of bland really with a bone dry finish and an odd, lingering aftertaste.

Herbal, pine hops rule supreme in this ale. Blanketed by a malty sweetness. Nice long pine bitter finish. Highly drinkable, for an 8% standard IPA. This runs, for me anyway, a couple of points above run of the mill east coast IPAs. This runs under "Try it".

8% for a non-double ipa- hell ya, this ipa kicks some double ipa’s asses. An above average ipa, great taste, bitterness, ect., ect.

The aroma is hoppy and earthy with citrus and pine. The malts are caramel like. The appearance is amber with an average head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is smooth with a very bitter finish. Overall this is a beer that seems to have potential but not perfect.

This one is a lot smooth than most other IPA, its hop bitterness is not a potent but has more of a complement to the beer than the normal dominate bite of the IPA.
