3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Orange zest, Belgian yeast, bready malts and hinted caramel. Orange/copper appearance with thin foam and nice lacing. Taste is very pleasantly bitter hops, smooth belgian yeast, belgian candi sugar, hinted molasses, burnt caramel and big bready malts. Overall, this is a very well done, balanced yet bitter IPA. Good stuff.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: JAN 15, 2014 Tap: rustic amber with copper highlights; muddled throughout, topped with a small, wispy white cap that recedes to a collar very quickly. Aroma is underwhelming, especially for a 7% ABV Belgian IPA. Light notes of citrus zest, grass, herbaceous hops, & lightly sweet bubblegum from the yeast esters. Taste is a little more powerful with some bitterness in the form of pine, leaves, & grapefruit peel. Toasted, buttered, bready malt bill with a finish of heavy yeast; faint spice, banana esters, & some finishing bubblegum-like sweetness. Not bad, but largely forgettable.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
@Chief in Lima. Cloudy medium amber, head reduces to a cover, thick bands of lace. Taste is sweet malt and hops joining together at the beginning, and riding through the palate to a finish that allows malt presence, only to change its mind and kick malt aside for strong hops. The hop presence is not the usual American citrus, but not European either. Maybe a combination, which makes for strength without overpowering the malt. Well conceived and produced.
