Like a stamp on a tramp, this beer is about not so subtle seduction. Soft but complex malts, Chambly yeast, sweet orange peel, Columbus, Amarillo, and Centennial hops have merged to create a bodacious Belgian IPA.

Glad to finally have Clown Shoes distributed in Texas. The beer pours a hazy orange-brown color with a white head. The aroma is decent. I get some floral notes from the hops, as well as some citrus notes. There is a decent amount of sugar in the aroma as well as some alcohol and yeast notes. The flavor is similar. I get a lot of floral hops, as well as some orange citrus and grass notes. There is a Belgian yeast component in the flavor as well. As the beer warms I start to get some strong perfume-like aspects in the flavor. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bomber pours deep copper with a bit of haze and off white head. The aroma has sweet yeasty spices with some citrus hops, apricot and apple all swirling around. The taste is similar with only a modest level of Belgian like yeasty spiciness and then bolder notes of citrus hops and sweet sort of near earthy sort of peach nuanced tropical fruitiness. Toward the finish I get a bit of resiny hop bitterness that just improves upon an already pleasing experience and a degree of balance is achieved.

Taste is grapefruit, pine and orange zest, with a malty finish. Iíve tried 4 different beers from Clown Shoes over the past week, and all of them have been really good.

Hazy amber-orange pour. There is a little bit of yeasty spice with a touch of light orange and grapefruit. In addition to this there is a little bit of phenolic yeast. The palate is incredibly watery with a little bit of fruity hoppiness. The actual orange peel is kind of distracting and makes it tough to really appreciate the hops. There is a lot of citrus but I find it clashes a little bit with the yeast and with the hops. As it warms up the beer comes a little bit better into balance, but itís still not great. A touch of spicy hoppiness but there is an odd sort of almost vegetal character. I normally like these Belgian IPAs, but this one just doesnít come together for me at all.

22 oz bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with white head. Aroma of mixed citrus, hint of banana, farmhouse, yeasty bread. Flavor is much the same with a dry hoppy finish. Mouthfeel is light-medium body with fizzy carbonation. Overall, interesting brew!

Bottle, bought @ Skjold Burne, Aarhus.
Hazy orange with a large, frothy, off-white head. Aroma has notes of grapes, green apples, citrus, pine, tangerine, orange peel. Medium carbonation, fine frothy and dry mouthfeel. Flavour is elegant, there is a bit of brett feel to it, though I suspect its just the hops. Dry, piney, tangerine, orange peel, still some grapes in there. Very lovely beer.

Pours a deep cheddar orange with a thick white head. Aroma is peachy grapefruit bread. Flavor is doughy grapefruit, orange rind bitters, and a slight finish of sweet cinammon bread. Nice mouthfeel. Perty good.

On tap at Whole Foods. Coudy orange brew with a thick head. Aromas of orange, resin, dank, and Belgian yeast. Slightly sweet, pine hops, more orange and nicely balanced.

Pours a slightly hazy medium amber with a thin, off white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is big on citrus, stone fruit, mango, a touch of spice and sweet malt. Flavor is caramel, sweet malt and a touch of shortbread cookie up front, finishing with big bitter grapefruit, some pine, herbal and a touch of tropical fruit, also just a hint of peppery, spicy Belgian yeast. Palate is medium bodied, slightly slick on entry immediately drying out, pretty highly carbonated and quite dry ( though increasingly slick as the glass empties) to the finish. Pretty tasty, the bitterness, though is bordering on medicinal, which lends to an odd finish.
