3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Pawola22 (2203) - Chicago, USA - JUL 4, 2011
22oz bottle. Pours a hazy, slightly dark orange colored body with an inch thick, dense and frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is really nice. Its vibrant, but quite soft at the same time with a great mix of Belgian yeast and citrusy hops. A tad bit sweeter Belgian yeast greets the nose with a few very soft esters along with lots of citrusy, piney, floral hops with a light resin and some herbal spice as well. Grapefruits, apricots, oranges, and melons making up the fruits. The malts are nice as well with a lightly sweetened caramel behind everything providing a nice balance, but letting the yeast and hops shine. Flavor is similar while being a bit more hop forward. Soft caramels up front with a nice Belgian yeast and a few esters. Hops quickly come in with a good amount of pines and some herbal spicing along with some fruity florals. I get more grapefruit, melon, lemon, and orange along with some apricot and tangerine. Esters grow slightly into the finish where this dries with a moderate bitterness and very clean yeast. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and soft, moderately lively carbonation. Overall, a really solid Belgian IPA. Not overly aggressive with the bitterness, but plenty of citrusy hops offering a lot to the flavor. The Belgian yeast provides a nice side-kick to the hops and remains soft, yet balanced. This was very easy drinking and highly enjoyable. Good beer.

Bottle at home. Thanks Shawn! Pours murky tawny/bronze, with an obvious green hue. Thick cream coloured head, fantastic lacing. Nose is big spicy yeast, fresh sticky hops, some real wheat/coriander notes, very grassy. Flavours of spicy yeast esters, banana, grassy hops, apricots, very bitter, nice lemongrass in the finish. Initially I wasn’t sure about this one, but it grows on you...

Macon, Ga - WineStyles Liquor Store - 22 oz bomber. Pours a nice, hazy dark orange with a soft white head that leaves some sticky lacing. Spruce-like aroma with a odd hint of what can only be described as hot sauce. Solid bitter flavor with the requisite grapefruit notes, some yeasty notes, a bit of rye-like minty spiciness. Solidly thick mouthfeel. Pretty decent.

[5/9/12] Draught at Ølbaren in Copenhagen. Clear amber color with a white head. Aroma of floral hops, slightly citric and some fruity yeast. Yeasty flavor with some fruitiness, hops, some sweetness and a bitter, slightly grapefruity finish. Medium-bodied. OK, don’t really dig the yeastiness.

Orange, cloudy, thin loose white head. Aroma is a nice mix of Belgian yeast and American citrusy hops. Flavor is a good dose of banana and bubblegum yeast mixed a good deal of grapefruit hops. Woody finish. Pretty good hybrid here with both styles mixing together.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Nephilium (951) - Ohio, USA - MAY 8, 2012
Caramel nose, with a hint of pine hops. Bright orange pour, with a big craggy white head, that fades down leaving good Belgian lace on the glass. Thin hint of malt, with a touch of spice, and a big bitter hop blast. Light on the palate, with some carbonation. This beer is very close, it just seems to be missing some notes from the Belgian side to really set it apart.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Scipio (185) - Vernon Hills, Illinois, USA - MAY 7, 2012
Pours an orange with a full frothy white head. Aroma made up of more orange, less grapefruit, cherry, pine and hops. Hops make up the initial taste. What follows is fruit and kind of floral. Includes orange, cherry, grape, and more pine. Good hop bite for an IPA, with a long piney aftertaste. Full body on this one, and is more on the thicker side. This is a good one.
