3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from 22oz bottle, pours pitch black with a thick light brown head and sticky lacing through out the entire glass, aroma has a ton of chocolate and fudge with a little bit of booze, the flavor has smoke on the front end with a ton of chocolate in the finish, thick mouthfeel overall, man this is big, there is something bitter in the finish but it doesn’t completely ruin it, not bad at all.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pitch black. Huuuge aroma! Dark malts, dark rich chocolate and coffee, burned, ashy but a nice sweetness to it too; caramel, dark fruits. Awesome aroma! Taste follows the nose, (but) with a more bitter, (hoppy?) finish that lingers for a long time. Very, very, very dry mouthfeel, almost too much. Between medium and full, but too dry I think.
In general, this is an awesome beer! Nice and roasty and dark. A bit too bitter and dry for my taste, but overall, a great beer. clove,

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice dark rich pour. Smooth tan head. Aromas are slightly fruity an a bit of smokey coffee. A really nice imperial, the price and 10%abv help prevent over doing it! Sip slowly

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark with a tannish brown head. Roasty toasty malt, full with a hint of dark sweetness (cherry, raisin, fig) and a long finish. Hints of oak and vanilla. Very nice stout.

Bold, big, and smooth. Loved the maltiness of this stout, along with its roastiness. And the use of holy water...awesome!

I think I was expecting a bit more out of this one. The bigger stouts seem to be what Clown Shoes favors and this one came up just a little short for me. Still not bad though. Would just pick other stouts from them before this one.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is a really big, really good American Stout. Not as complex as some of my other favorite stouts, but very good. I could drink a few bottles, and I think I will.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz. bottle, dated 10/18/12, making this almost exactly one year old. Aroma primarily consists of dark chocolate and black licorice, with lighter notes of roasted malt, molasses and vanilla, with a touch of alcohol in the background. Black in color with dark brown highlights, and featuring a diminutive head with very sparse lacing. Flavor profile is sweet and roasty, with plenty of chocolate throughout and a burnt sugar character, blended with coffee, earth, anise, and some mild hop bitterness and smoke towards the finish. Thick, coating mouthfeel, lightly warming and full with a huge body, managing to avoid being overly sweet by presenting a good bit of countering dryness. Decent rendering.

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2013 This one is a stout. It is not a great stout. It is not a bad stout. It is simply a stout. Not worth the price. Will not buy again.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Small snifter filled from a large bottle.
Full body with light but OK carbonation. High ABV evident.
Some dark fruit, coffee and dark chocolate. Lasting, rich aftertaste.
Main gripe: a bit too sweet.
