4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
We’ve had Clown Shoes around here for awhile, but I never have seen this one on the shelves until very recently. Snagged up a bottle as soon as I saw it as this is one I’ve wanted to try for awhile. Poured into a snifter.
I let this warm up for about 15 minutes out of the fridge before I poured. Pours hesitantly out of the bottle - a slow glug. A pleasant dark tan head sits on top, but fleets away quickly. Leaves tiny bits of lace stuck to the glass. Sweet aromas of milk chocolate, vanilla cookies, booze, roasted nuts. A nice profile for sure.
This beer is a little disappointing in the mouth. Drinks much thinner than I expected from a big bold beer. Light carbonation, slick finish. Needs more "chew" to this to stand up to the flavors and ABV. This is one of the sweeter Impy Stouts I’ve had in awhile. Milk chocolate is for sure the main player, sweet from start to finish. Light char flavor melds in well, and finishes with a whisper of boozy aftertaste.
Good beer for sure that I’d revisit as I loved the flavor. But they need to tweak the mouthfeel a bit to give this one just a little more girth.

22oz bottle, shared with DanielCoor and co. Pitch black color. Good thin light brown head. Nice ropes of lace. Kind of soft, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Bigger, chewier body. Moderate sweet. Bigger bitter taste. Lightly spicy. Light bite in the finish. Roasty malt. Some coffee, dark chocolate, light smoke. Great imperial stout. Especially good with pizza.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with a thick lacy brown head. Aroma is lots of of chocolate, coffee, some licorice, burnt malts, stone toffee and more chocolate. Taste is moderate sweet and quite bitter. Long boozy finish, some marzipan and bitterness. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Incredibly soft creamy profile. Very good.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Thick and dark. Nice head with moderate lacing. Smells of smoke, coffee, and chocolate. Taste is similar with the addition of heavy roasted malts and bitterness. Maybe not everyone’s style but this fit the bill for me.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Malty aroma; inky black appearance with an almost creamy tan head; sweet, but not cloying, toasted caramel taste that finishes with coffee; silky on the palate with a light fizz; overall, a very good imperial stout

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Bocktown. Nice average imperial stout. Aroma was roasted malt and a slight coffee note. Pour was an ink black with a thin tan film for a head. Taste hid the alcohol very well. I was guessing it was around 8% before I looked it up. Roasted malt, stale coffee and a slight milkiness. Light carbonation. Not bad, not great

Pours black with a large dark tan head.
Nose shows vanilla, roasted malt, spicy hops, oatmeal and milk chocolate.
Flavours include a strong sweetness, vanilla, spicy hops, alcohol, chocolate liqueur and hazelnuts. Good stuff.
Nice moderate carbonation and syrupy body.
