Jeppe (2635), Ølbutikken, Denmark Jul 20, 2007 Updated: Jul 21, 2007 Thanks a lot Juha for sending me this one along with a present for my son!! Pours clear golden and a foamy white head. Grain, a bit of butter, hay in the aroma - not bad, but not overly exciting. Flavor of malt and a slightly hoppyness with a hint of corn. Again, not as bad as one could have feared, but rather harmless and uninteresting.
DarkElf (2650), La Jolla, California, USA Aug 12, 2008 10-May-08 (330-ml bottle, Best before May, 2007: Obtained 10-Apr-08 in trade with bogdi1, thanks Juha!) Hazy, dark-straw color. Small, nearly-white head fades fast to a thin layer that is propped up by the carbonation bubbles rising through the beer. Oxidized nose, cardboard is quite strong, some grainy malts in the background. Doesn’t smell bad, just old. Dry, corny, grainy malts at the forefront with very light spicy hops far in the background. Not great flavor, but it is reasonably malty. Moderate cardboard is present but not gross and it shows less prominence than the nose. Light in body, soft in carbonation. Not awful when cold, but as it warms up, look out. I expect it will be better if fresher too, but not much better. Quack-Duck (1698), Bodensee, Germany Jul 20, 2008 bottle with no label at all, traded with jeverszeuge. Clear golden yellow with some tiny floaties. Malty nose. Light-bodied, grainy and slightly dusty. Quite alright. SDbruboy (1821), San Diego, California, USA May 10, 2008 12 oz. bottle shared by DarkElf, with a best by date of May 2007 - we’ll see... Pours slightly hazy pale golden, with a thin white head. Cereal grain aromas, with a hint of citrus peel and light grassy floral notes. Flavors of grainy malts, more of the grassy and lemon notes, somewhat oxidized tasting. Thin body and assertive carbonation. Not so good in a rating situation, but I can imagine that served fresh and ice cold, on a hot Liberian afternoon, this wouldn’t be too bad. Beerded_one (1580), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 23, 2008 Bottle. Pours a light pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma of grain, malts, and a hint of metal. Flavor is corn, grain, and notes of grassy hops with a thin body and a short finish. Papsoe (9999), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 23, 2007 (Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of Bierkönig. Clear, pilsener golden with a decent, white head. Slightly unclean maltiness in the aroma. Medium body, sweetish malt and corn with an edge of metal. Surprisingly hoppy finish. Drinkable. 200707
