2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Aubrey (3192) - Bellingham, USA - JUN 7, 2011
Bottle in Quito, 2010: Club was probably the best beer I tasted in Ecuador. Its malt side was pretty weak and it carried some unappealing notes of corn in the background, but it was the only beer I sampled that actually had noticeable hop aromas. Not a lot, to be clear, but at least it offered something. Unfortunately, I couldn’t drink more than a couple bottles of Club at a time because its carbonation was so fluffy and over-gassed that it made me feel bloated.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ribman (12) - Colorado, USA - APR 20, 2012
This was only available in some of the better restaurants in Ecuador, but I don’t see why. It was a little bitter, and kind of skunky. I had this on a cross country bus, so I might have been sitting around for awhile. All in all I liked the more popular brand, Pilsener, better.
That said, I had this after having our bus stopped by a bunch of strikers in the middle of the night, and it did help calm my nerves....
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Ktwse (226) - SWEDEN - FEB 14, 2012
The best Ecuadorian mainstream brand... Not that that says much. Compared to Pilsener, it’s got a slightly richer, fuller taste but also more carbonation, the kind that is to your mouth like a very loud, nasal girl’s voice is to your ears.

This was by a hair the best of the beers we had in Ecuador. Of the three main brands, this one is the strongest. Typical Euro-style lager.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Derek881 (729) - Frederick, Maryland, USA - SEP 6, 2011
I had a couple bottles of this poured into a pint glass while in Quito, Ecuador. The beer had a pleasant grainy hops aroma with a bit of cereal and straw. It had a good grainy bitter taste with a slight sourness. The beer had average carbonation and a somewhat lively mouthfeel, although it was somewhat dry. The appearance was a mostly clear gold color with a modest bubbly white head that had some slight cling and retention.
2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 turbothy (967) - Bonn, GERMANY - AUG 28, 2011
Pours standard golden with a quite active head. Aroma is cardboardy, and the flavour is dominated by slightly funky malt. Decent.

light and fizzy with decent body enhanced by malt and hop characeristics that owe to good brewing skills and yet lack of materials. a bit of fruit punch with a tight finish.
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Hugerat (452) - somerville, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 12, 2011
Only very slightly better than their competitor in Ecuador, owing to just a bit more hop presence. Otherwise it’s got the wet, moldy grain flavor that many other South American lagers have.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Dorqui (1552) - Brescia, ITALY - JUL 10, 2010
Bottled. Much yellow pale color. Modest bubbly aspect. Light and evanescent head. Unusual aroma, washed-out, with light rumors of dampen grain. Slightly fizzy taste with aromas of watery cereals.
