Thick beige head, very even over deep burgundy to brown, clear beer. Very perfumey nose, praliné chocolate, coloured but not-bitter malts; pastry, noisette, also wild mushrooms. Bitter/roasted with a sweet, perfumey underbuild. Again nutty, confiserie chocolates. Point of bitter chocolate retronasal. Warming up, the flavour also gets a stamp as from wild mushrooms ( trompettes de la mort). Overcarbonated, fizzy MF. Quite slick, rather well-bodied. Can’t get the oak. Got some very perfumey, nearly forced flavours instead.

The younger, dark brother of Cluysenaer, with a sticky yellowish white head and deep bronze colour, misty. Aroma of hazelnuts, caramel, pear syrup, liquorice, plums, dates, cheesy hops, cloves. Candied and dried fruits in the mouth on a malty basis reminiscent of nuts, caramel and some chocolate, liquorice accent, some candi, creamy finish with a slight hint of woodiness from the added oak chips, sweetish with a mild grassy hop bitterishness. Like the blond one, well-balanced and correct, but nothing too exciting.

0.33L bottle. Hazy dark brown with a frothy tan head. Super nice, sweet aroma. Roasted malt, bubblegum, cough drop, alcohol. Initial sweet that goes quickly to a strong roasted malty and butterscotch ( diacetyl) flavor. Finishes with a long, bitter linger. Light body with a creamy mouth feel and mild carbonation. Overall, the beer emphasizes Roasted malt. Has some nice aromas, but also some off flavors.

Brune foncée un rien rougeâtre, effervescence légère de visu, trop pétillante au palais, col beige très fin. Malts foncés toastés, un peu de moka, un peu plus de fruits noirs, une note de vanille. Vraiment pas mal!

Pours light hazy dark chestnut with a large, creamy, off-white head. Aroma has lots of raisin, plums, blackberries, mild chocolate. Medium carbonation, fine light and quite dry mouthfeel. 33cl Bottle from a nightshop at St. Veerleplein in Gent. Deep dark brown colour, off-white head. Aroma of oak, vanilla, some roasted malts, toast, burnt caramel. Flavour is medium-sweet, hint of roast, wood, toast, burnt caramel, a bit dusty, bitter-sweet finish. Smells nice, but doesn’t taste that good imo. Medium-bodied at best.
