Milk jug shared at Paul’s Thanksgiving tasting. Pours light gold with a thin head. Light apple aroma with a boozy hint. The flavor is like apple juice maxid with a cheap champagne and a shot of vodka. Pretty bad, but it’s 12% ABV and I could chug the shit out of it so I guess it as its time and place.

Half gallon plastic milk carton at Paul’s tasting supplied by Max. Pours a clear gold, still with no head. Big boozy apple, caramel apples. The aromas make me want ice cream for some reason, sort of apple pie aromas. Thin and boozy, and a bit harsh. Vegetal and weird. Long boozy warmth on the finish.

.5 gallon milk jug thanks to Jessbnjess and Max. Pours a light golden with no carbonation- still. Aroma is spicy fusel alcohol, big burn, white wine, apple juice, and green apple skin. Flavor is mineral, metallic, paint thinner, acetaldehyde, fusel, high alcohol heat, harsh honey and off esters. Finish is thin, and burny.

Sample poured at the Cider Mill. I had this both from the half-gallon jug cloudy version and from the 750mL bottled version. Aroma has a snap of apple, oak, and some oak-aged booze. This was my favorite of the three non-fruit varieties that I tried. Reminiscent of bourbon or scotch at this level, with a nice crisp oak finish, but again, the apple flavor has been largely buried, despite being made from a cider-worthy apple.

Pours gold and still with a nice neck as with their original cider. Smells fusel with some appley undertones. Taste is semi sweet but rather bland and one dimensional. Russet may not be the best choice as a cider apple as this cider lacked the depth and crispness of the other two ciders I sampled.

(750ml bottle) Clear straw body, still, some legs. Aroma is medium sweet, apple, some smoke, slight duskiness. Taste is medium sweet, apple, alcohol, some smokiness. Semi-sweet, light stickiness.

Corked 750, bought at the B.F. Clyde Cider Mill general store. Pours solid, clear gold, no head, a few bubbles rising in the glass. Nose is much like a white wine, maybe a Riesling, lightly sweet. Decent legs. Very smooth, round mouthfeel. Sweet apple and honeylike flavors. Warm finish, alcohol is apparent, only slightly detracting, a tad on the hot side. Good.
