COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 16th century, this style was one of the more popular styles in the united kingdom. Back then, water wasn't safe to drink unless it was fermented into beer or wine. There were plenty of beer styles brewed to get drunk with but the mild was the one everybody drank throughout their day to keep hydrated. With the development of water treatment plants, mild ales gradually started a decline in popularity. Today its popularity is trying to make a comeback with the smaller craft breweries of the UK. 1.038 original gravity.

The brewers from BJ's came to Four Peaks and brewed this historic beer on our system. We returned the favor on their system the next day.

Pours with a reddish-brown body topped by a thick head with some lacing. It’s slightly sweet and malty with a very slight note of caramel and roastiness. Weak Aroma and flavor but pretty much what I expected. Light to medium bodied and smooth.

Cask @ 05’ Pizza Port Real Ale Fest: Dark mahogany with thick bubbly head. Nose of edgy thin roast, earthy light body. The flavor is thin but nice and roasty with good body. Nice mild but seems a bit thin in the finish, probably all these super imperial IPAs I’ve had before this little guy.

Poursa deep brown hue with a drothy tan head. Aromas of roasted leather, smoke, and chocolate. Flavors of the same. No bitterness and very drinkable.

tap at Bj’s in Chandler, AZ. After reading this description, i saw that this beer was brewed for both four peaks and for Bjs so i entered it here. pours a copper hue with a nice nitro smooth head. nutty, coffee and slightly grainy aroma. flavors of roast, chocolate, nutty and some coffee grains. light body but very soft and true to style. good take on the style-hell, I have had FlacoAlto’s homebrew mild and his is as good as this!

The creamy light brown head sits atop a deep ruby-amber colored brew. The aroma has an interesting mix of chocolate, diacetyl (though very light, and stylistically allowable), and a note of roasted malt/ roasted espresso that finishes the aroma off. The beer is creamy and light on the palate with fruity notes of raisin and caramel at first evident on my tongue. The finish is characterized by a light bitterness and a bit of astringent roast malt character. Both of these finishing notes are light and on par with the rest of the beer. There is a note of buttery diacetyl here in the taste, but it is faint and note out of place in this beer. Plus I am very sensitive to it, and I don’t think that it is distracting. As I work my way through the pint a fine Belgian lace forms on the side of the glass. This is a really ice mild, full of character, yet light and quaffable. I really like how the chocolate notes interplay with the soft fruity character of this beer.

When held to light had a red tint to the body. No head to speak of. Mild malty flavor, that left a roasted flavor on the finish. Easy low alcohol beer to drink.

Dark brown with a nice white creamy head and thick lacing that hangs in sheets. Aroma and flavor is light malts and raisin with a very watery body. Reminded me of a very watered down coke.
