Cask Handpump at the Royal British Legion, Middlewich 27/10/2006 Slightly rich aroma. Golden bronze coloured and a little hazy in appearance. Sweet honey flavour. Some dryness in a lasting malt finish.

First tasted this at the Renfrew Beer Festival in September 1997. Cask, gravity dispense. Crystal clear gold in colour with a thin loose white head. Fresh citric notes of grapefruit in the long intense aroma. Resiny mouthfeel and poor lacing. Pale malts give a strong citrus flavour of grapefruit and gooseberry with just a hint of golden syrup. Metallic tang of hop resins gives a dry bitter edge to the aftertaste. Although well balanced in the finish, sweet malt just edges it with dry lemon peel notes. A decent summer session golden ale with a bit of bite.
