Cask; Regular.
A stronger than average session beer, with a mellow hoppy nose and smooth aftertaste. It has a full toffee like malty palate and has an exceptional appearance in the glass.

Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A clear amber colour with a thin white head. Aroma of toffee, some fruity malt, subtle plum and bread. Tastes of grain, some caramel, subtle apple, bread and some roastiness. Light bodied but a watery texture. A soft, grainy bitterness in the finish. Disappointed by this because it smelt like a fruity, malty bitter but it’s quite grainy and thin. Ok for £1.95 though.

Cask@lychgatetavern, wolverhampton. Copper beer with medium head and good lacing. Very little aroma. Taste is a little caramel, grainy in a low alcohol beer way. Not very nice. I was robbed by this beer.

Cask (handpump) @ Barony Bar, 83 - 85 Broughton Street, Edinburgh, Scotland EH1 3RJ.

Clear medium amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, nutty, caramel, berry - toffee notes. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20101031]

On tap in the Stockbridge Tap, Edinburgh. A bit of a disapointment to be honest. Looks great with a nice deep red/amber colour. Aroma was sparse but there were hints of the malt and some sweetness coming through. The palate was smooth, really smooth, like silky smooth. It was the taste that was the let down. First impressions were watery, so I had some more but it was still watery. Don’t get me wrong there are hops in there and they crop up occasionally but my overall lasting memory is watery.

From cask. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white and dense head. Aroma is light roasted malty and light butterish. Bitter hoppy and roasted malt base. Slight caramelish. Bitter and crisp fruity intothe finish.

Cask, gravity at Chadlington Beer Festival, Chadlington Village Hall, Oxon, 05-06-10 Pours amber with a white filmy head. This is quite malty and with toffee showing up front its a bit too sweet and uninteresting for me. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov13 3.2

Pint shared with Finn. Thin, creamy white head over a clear, dark brown body. Strange aroma of late apples and wet paper. Slightly better in taste with weight on butter caramel. Dry ending and very vague bitterness. A bit unfinished? (cask at Dog & Duck, Soho, London 01.05.2208).

Cask, Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Dark copper, nice sticky clean white head. Soft toffee aroma, blended with plum and apple esters. Some toast adds depth. Fresh earthy hops blended deftly with a round hearty malt, a little apple in the finish. In cracking good shape, and a very satisfying drop.
