"Special Reserve"
A truly magnificent ruby coloured beer of premium strength, with a very full malty palate, balanced by a crisp hop flavour and a lingering hoppy aftertaste. As smooth as cream but not for the unwary!

Sampled cask conditioned at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, Sweden.
Copper coloured. Flowery, bready, soapy aroma. Sweet and gently malty with jellyish mouthfeel. Smooth, somewhat fruity and lightly roasty with low bitterness. Reminding of an irish ale.

tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - NOV 23, 2011
First tasted this in Coanes, Johnstone in August 1993. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear garnet red in colour with a creamy off white head. Strong aroma of berry fruit in the long aroma. Creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Mixed malts give a rich maltloaf base with juicy raisins and dates evident. Spicy hop resins give a bitter edge to the slightly metallic aftertaste, along with hints of boiled cabbage. Fruit continues into the malty finish with molasses and a touch of liquorice. A good old fashioned session ESB.

Fairly standard bitter this one, tastes like the traditional bitters the old big breweries use to make, no strong stand out flavours and quite forgetable

Cask, Lord Keeper of the Great Seal, Oadby. Copper with a small foam. Aromas are lightly malty with some berry fruitiness. Some molasses with herbal and floral notes. Flavours are thin chocolate and roast malts with not a great deal of hops on the finish. Has the character of a mild rather than a premium bitter.

DruncanVeasey (5146) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - AUG 1, 2010
UPDATED: AUG 23, 2010 Cask, The Banker’s Draft (JDW), Sheffield, Beer For Every Year Crawl- not on the official itinerary, but somehow we ended up in a couple of Spoons, as you do. Clear chestnut, cream lid. Sesame, berries, wax crayon aroma. 6. Still and berry-hinting; caramel and blackcurrant over digestives. Not bad, but ’Special Reserve’ is pushing it.
