2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
First tasted this in Coanes, Johnstone in December 1993. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear amber orange in colour with a thin white head. Roast malt in the short aroma. Thin oily mouthfeel and poor lacing. Mixed malts give a digestive biscuit base with sweet toffee notes. Hop resins give a spicy bitter flavour in the short aftertaste, wood smoke flavours comes through in the roasted malt finish. An old fashioned style of bitter and recommended.
