3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 wheresthepath (1083) - - NOV 5, 2009
[Cask at the Back of Beyond, Reading] Amber-chestnut with a moderate white head. Oak and malt aroma. A smooth, rich, easy-drinking bitter with lots of toffee and just enough woodiness to balance it out. Good stuff.

Golden amber coloured and floral with a slightly spicy flavour. A hint of bitterness in a crisp dry malt finish.

JDW, Rochester. Dry, thirst quenching and refreshing session bitter with a decent hop scratch from the middle to the finish. Sadly a watery finish. Some smoke. OK.
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 harrisoni (10070) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - DEC 13, 2009
Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Pale chestnut colour, lasting beige head. Classic butterscotch diacetyl on aorma. ONe of the best examples of butterscotch I’ve had. Rest of the beer is a slightly sub par bitter.

Cask in the alfread herring. Alround rating: Caramel and nutty malt, fairly thin with grassy hop comign through to try and balance, but its on the sweetside. Acht!
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 17, 2009
A Mes rate. Cask at Baker Street Sporks. Hazy copper with a faint oily off white film. Not the best looking beer I have seen. Slight sourness, decent fruity malt, some earth plus a faint mineral note. Rather limp and lifeless. Sour finish with a late bitter twist. Boring.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 berkshirejohn (3014) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - NOV 17, 2009
Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Gold with a dense cream head; sweet malt aroma; sharp acidic fruit flavour with a touch of pear drops; lightly bitter finish. Rather unsettling.

Handpulled cask at JDW Hatch End. Copper with an off white head. Boring brown crystal malt based bitter. Quite drinkable and in good nick but very forgettable.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 DruncanVeasey (5146) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - NOV 12, 2009
The Baron. Deep bronze with a slim, nitrogenous collar. Instant butter and strawberry aroma, mingled with half-marathon trainer. Suck of Strawberry and Cream Campinos, rank with butter. Not a sliver of the promised toffee. Diacetyl bomb bigger than Caledonian Double Dark, on this semi-drinkable evidence. Urgh.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 downender (4387) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - NOV 9, 2009
Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol 3/11/09. Copper coloured with next to no head. Sweet, malty bitter with red fruit and caramel, a slightly rustic edge to the flavour and moderately bitter finish. Not so good.
