This bronze-coloured beer has been brewed especially for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival. Its sweet biscuit nose, tight white head and multigrain flavour are balanced by a hint of citrus on the palate. Hops: Admiral, Goldings

Crosse Keys Spoons. Clear gold beer, little white head. Smooth palate, low carbonation. Caramel cream malt with a little tangy orange. No real bitterness. Smooth and inoffensive.

Cask conditioned Handpump Moon On The Square Northampton. A golden beer with a white bubbly head. Sweet and yeasty throughout. Also too cold. Yeasty and dull with apply notes. Poor.

Tasted this in The Last Post, Paisley (JDW) in November 2011. Cask, handpump dispense. Crystal clear pale copper in colour with a thin white head. Slight malt and sweet red apple in the short aroma. Thin mouthfeel and poor lacing. Robust pale malt strong in the mouth with digestive biscuit note evident. Slight hop prickle in the really quick aftertaste. Dry woody briar flavour in the tart finish. Lacks depth and complexity and a poor session bitter to be honest.

Citrus, biscuit and floral aroma, quite watery. Amber with a small head, slight citrus on palate, just better than average.

Cask at the John Logie baird (JDW), Hastings. Amber with a dense cream head; the aroma has some fruit and biscuit but is rather muted; smooth bodeid with a fruity, caramel malt flavour; and a dry biscuity finish. A rather average bitter.

Hand pulled cask at the Moon under Water (JDW) Watford. Amber with a loose bubbled white head. Pretty boring, cereal malts, faint dusty hops...... not one to seek out again!

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 22/10/2011. Deep amber with a slight, off-white head. Sweet, caramel and red fruit aroma. Flavour was sweet and syrupy with not much of a finish.

Cask at Hamilton Hall, JDW, London. Pours clear copper with a foamy, white head. Light fruit aroma, perhaps some cereal. Flavor at first strikes me like a lager. Don’t know why. Its sweet with some fruity notes, a bit of cereal, toffee and peach. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Sugary sweet finish, very faint herbal bitters, some peach, dough and toffee. Yeah, reminds me of lager.
