COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Library IPA is definitely not for everyone. True to the IPA style, it has a dormant, almost overpowering hop bitterness. A three week dry hopping process is used to prepare the ale, as was done centuries ago, when this style of beer first came about.

Some IPAs I like, others I don't. Coach's IPA just doens't do it for me. Underneath the nice copper color, the beer is overpoweringly hopped - I actually cringed on my first taste. I don't mind heavily hopped beers when the flavors are balanced well. This one just doesn't cut it. The lingering aftertaste got me too.

Deep rust color; No head due to pour from growler; Nose was BBQ! Terrible mouthfeel. Wonderful flavor profiles though. Good dryness. Tiny bit of sweetness.

head nothing, nice perfumey aroma, resiny surface, bushy, off dry with some cookie bready english malt flavors, hmmm... bummer, starts like Indica IPA and then gets sweet, too malty and british

Clear amber with a bit of head after a pour from a growler. Nice, hoppy, clasic aroma; moderate and easy going, orange more than grapefruit. The flavor is initially moderately agressive, hanging around and building in bitterness with an unpleasant astringency in the end that undermined my initially favorable opinion of this. Thank you Acrodizer for bringing a growler down to Texas so we could try this!

No head on this IPA. It has a deep red, cidery appearance. The aroma is spicy and sweet, with citrus and hoppy notes. Flavor is pleasing, as is the palate - a very decent beer.

On tap at the library in University of Oklahoma country, i.e. Norman: Small white head set on top of an Amber body. Floral, pine, grapefruit aroma with hints of spice and grain. Moderate bitter and sweet taste, somewhat sticky sweet on the finish. Lingering pine aftertaste. Nice medium body with a dry and lively mouthfeel. Too sweet to be a great IPA, more in line with a nice English Pale.

Growler. Hard-to-find Oklahoma is now checked off the list. Dark amber, mellow head. Lemonesque flavor and aroma compared with most IPAs. Subtle hints of sweetness here and there, nice dry finish.

UPDATED: FEB 3, 2011 A sweet hoppy aroma, with hints of apricots and spices, and a medium amber color. First taste is extremely sweet hops, and turns into a mild bitterness. Very dry palate, something I enjoy. At times this beer was almost too sweet, but has a deep rich hop flavor and a long bitter aftertaste. I moved this rating over from "Library IPA" because they are the same. I’ve had a number of batches of this, some are great, some stink. Hope you get the good one.

GABF 2002: Strong lemony grapefruity aroma. Intense citric flavors. A little malt backs it up, and its not overly bitter.
