Sample on tap at Craft Beer Market (Vancouver). Pours sightly hazy orange-caramel with tiny beige head. Aroma: hops, red fruits (remeinescent of red Gatorade), bubblegum. Taste: Pleasant mellow bitterness. Fruity sweetness. A littel too much of malt. Balance is good nevertheless. Medium bodied. Godd, original IPA.

Deep amber-brown pour with a tan head. The nose is fairly sweet and malty with a firm woody/herbal note. A bit of darker malt, caramel and a touch of licorice even. Firmly bitter on the finish. Comes across more old ale than IPA to be honest - has a touch of molasses on the back as well. It’s actually a very tasty beer but an IPA it isn’t. How the hell this pulled a gold in an IPA category at the CBAs is anyone’s guess.

UPDATED: JUN 17, 2014 Hazy amber, fruity hop, not as fresh as I might like. Too chewy by far, just a blast of crystal malt, and this buries all hop bitterness and brightness. Call it Imperial Red or BW so I know what to expect - this is IPA only in the 1820s October Beer context, and even then it needs some aged notes.

Very modest head, okay amber-brown body with a few bubbles in it. Good sweet hop profile, a stronger IPA meant for beer geeks, shall we say, than the unwashed masses at large. Flavour is strong and sweet hops with a malty finish. Very drinkable, well crafted, a good effort.

Bottle - Grapefruit, orange, spice and some nice malts to balance. Clear dark amber and an off white head. Very dark for an IPA. Orange pith, grapefruit and lots of malt (toffee) which balances the bitterness nicely. Although this beer doesn’t have the typical West Coast IPA unbalance that i like, the balance makes this very sessionable with a clean finish. Simple but well done.

I’ve bought a few beers from this brewery. Hopefully this brewery gets more attention cuz they make some pretty damn good beers. Wonderful burps from this stuff... fruity (the usual grapefruity taste) and not quite as raunchy as some IPA that are out there.

Pours a dark copper amber with a medium size head which leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel malts and the Flavour is on the sweet side. The bitterness is there but it’s light and more in the finish.

650 ml bottle. Pours a dark amber with little head. Aromas of toffee and malts. Flavors of light pine, citrus, caramel, and tasted malts. Quite nice though a little flat.

Warm looking amber coloured. Bit of honey on the nose. Mouthfeel a bit leaner than expected. Short aftertaste. Somewhat disappointing.

On tap at The Oakwood in Kitsilano. Medium carbonation with a very dark amber color. Not much nose. Wow! This is a very flavorful and well balanced brew, with lots of hops and malts evident. Tilts somewhat to the malts in my opinion. A winner!
