Coalition Brewing Co.'s Loving Cup Maple Porter 5.5%
As a Montrealer, the Sugar Shack is a big part of spring so I saved this for the start of Spring.
Nutty aroma, kind of cardboard texture and the flavor is meh. Coalition disappoints me and what a let down.
Oh well, happy spring.

22 oz bottle poured. This is one of those beers that just sounds delicious. Maple? Good! Porter? Good!! I purchased this with the idea that there was no way possible it could be bad. Certainly did not disappoint, though it’s not mind blowing like I had hoped. Pours a dark copper brown with a full inch of soda foam head Soft chocolate malt aroma. Flavor is chocolate forward, and maybe a hint of maple? It could just be that I know it’s there. A bit of a cinnamon spice, chocolate finish. All flavors here are mild, and I was expecting more of a big bold maple out of it. All in all, I enjoyed this.

Bomber (5.8%) from Grocery Outlet. Super dark brown in color. Not quite black. Lightly roasty nose with a touch of sweetness. A little chocolate as well. Light and roasty. Very subtle up front but grows towards the back end. Maybe a little hint of maple but not much. Lighter in body than a lot of porters. Quite drinkable though.

(Bottle) Tastes like pepsi + maple syrup. Very thin, and very astringent. Not recommended.

Caramel, chocolate, cereal. Frothy head that stays, deep brown like a nut brown. Bitter, slightly sweet. Thin, lightly carbonated. Overall, drinkable if not great.

"Thin, but quite good, more in the English style than the typical American style. Pretty subtle on the maple for something with maple in the name, but it’s good enough to forgive them :)"

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Serving: from bottle--purchased at Made in Oregon.
Aroma: light caramel malt with chocolate and vanilla.
Appearance: very small, off-white, initial head with fair lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Clear, light-brown body.
Taste: lightly acidic initial taste and lightly sweet, smokey finish with short duration.
Palate: light-to-medium bodied with watery texture and lively carbonation.
Overall: nothing memorable. I didn’t detect any maple whatsoever.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle:   Not sure I get any Maple syrup out of this one.   Somewhat thin, yet clean.   Roasty, but not strong.   A very soft Porter overall.   Light bitterness.   Smooth, but needs to be a bit more chewy.   Wished the Maple sweetness was larger.   As is, okay.

Portland airport buy. Doesn’t look like a porter. Pours the color of maple syrup. Little head. Sweet malty beer. Not very poter-esk. very drinkable but not noteworthy. Not stylistically rateable
