4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Brewgrass.
Black with a tall, dark tan head.
Big malty, bourbon aroma.
Sweet start with a touch of bitterness at the end. The bourbon touch is just right, not weak, not overpowering.
Excellent BA beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Poured into a tulip glass a dark brown coor with a collared tan head around the glass. The aroma has a nice bourbon aroma with roast and slightly boozy. Medium mouthfeel with light carbonation. Not very sweet taste with a nice bourbon taste followed by a slight bitter leather aroma. Lingering bitterness. Pretty easy drinking.

Big thanks to G311 for this one.
Pours inky black with a light tan head and little lacing. Smell is very nice with the bourbon really coming through alongside a fair amount of chocolate and malt. The barrel dominates the falvor as well. A bit of oak and plenty of chocolate. Mouthfeel is quite nice and has that typical barrel-aged mouthfeel that is a bit difficult to ever describe. Drinkability is quite high as well. I will hand it to COAST on this one, as this is much, much better than the regular version of Blackbeerd.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber via trade thanks to monsterzero on BA. Pours black in color with a small tan head that leaves a ring. The aroma is roasty and a little smoky with coffee and chocolate notes. Whiskey too of course. Pretty nice. The flavor is really solid too. Balanced and tasty, with dark chocolate, coffee, roast, oak, and bourbon. Integrated very well. Smooth on the palate and not too boozy with full body and low carbonation. A solid -bal aged RIS overall. Enjoyable.

Light vanilla in the aroma - great, subtle use of barrel aging. Very rich, dark chocolatey dark roast flavor - not super complex but well executed and not overpowered by any one element.

this one was a very good ba version of a nice original imo. its not over barreleled in any way, but only spiced with it. the awesome smokey peaty aromas and tastes are still there, with a light spirited dusting. great stuff.

Wax coated bomber dated bottled on June 15, 2010. picked up from the brewery and shared with Tronraner, We got a fairly still pour with no head and a super dark color. The aroma is tantalizing with notes of chocolate, molasses, licorice, vanilla and oak. The palate is dense but not ultra heavy and sports very low carbonation. Notes of cherries, whiskey soaked brownies and almost genuine chocolate make this a delicious dessert type beer without being overly sweet. The finish is oaky, bringing this beast together.
