As dark as the legend of Blackbeard himself, behold the Imperial Stout. Sweet malts battle roasted grain on the decks of yer tongue. Like the blast from a cannon, hops are followed by smoked malt. Hold on to yer booty, this one packs a punch.Ingredients: Two-Row*, Munich *, Black, Caraffa*, Roasted Barley*, Smoked Malt, Oats* & Extra Special* Malts, Magnum and Palisades Hops, Ale Yeast and tripled filter water. *organic

Bottle shared by Nate. Pours dark brown, almost black, with moderate dark beige head. Roasty and chocolately nose... smells like it might be a bit on the thin side. Tastes reveals more of the same. Good but just a bit thin. Average.

Bomber. Got it from the exchange. Black brown non see through with lacy head tan/beige. Aroma is sweet chocolates burnt to a crisp with melon fruit. Kind of reminiscent of darker rum. All sweet and round smelling. Flavor is burnt, smoldering malt chocolate and coffee and dark berry, with syrup feel, and overall just really roasty. Booze is the last thing on your mind with all that roast.

Thanks to the TampaCrew for sharing this one. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Nose is earth, bitterness, roast, smoke, and black licorice. Flavor is similar with band-aid, roast, bitterness, smoke, and black licorice. Lingers around with roast and licorice. Not my favorite imperial stout.

Thanks to Nate for bringing this one to Sam’s tasting!! Tough to be the next impy after Berserker. Nice medium pour, with a full dark brown body, impressive carbonation, and moderate sediment. Huge dry roasts in the nose, along with subdued chocolate and just a hint of dark fruits. Slightly too thin body. Tasty and well done, even if a bit one-dimensional.

Think daknole pulled this one out of his bag-o-tricks @ Hellbilly’s...THANKS DAK!!! Dark brown bordering black pour with a caramel colored head. Lots of roasted coffee accompany chocolate, dark fruit, and smoke. Seemed a bit watery for the style.

Courtesy of bobby8405. Pours deep dark with copper edges and thin tan head. The aroma is a bit mild with chocolate, roastiness, black strap molasses and some malt infused earthiness. The taste is smooth with chocolate, dark roasted malts, full thick earthiness, some coffee and black strap molasses. Nice tasty brew. The flavor blends seamlessly with chocolate, dark roasted malts and earthiness.

Had at RBWG 2010 at Redlight. Big thanks to OrlGameCock at RBWG for the state tick. The aroma is dark chocolate covered cherries with coffee, cream, sour, and more. The flavor is similar but the fruits are subdued and the dusty chocolate comes out.

@ Carolina Goes Sour- to switch things up a bit. Thanks to JCB? Bomber. Pours almost black with a thin yellow head. Aroma of oxidized fruits, sweet fruit juices. Taste is bitter coffee, chocolate, vanilla, red apples. Not too much depth but very nice.

Nearly black pour with a nice tan head. Roasty and toasty aroma with tons of chocolate. Prunes and molasses too. Flavor is both sweet and bitter. Chcocolate and coffee with prunes. Damn nice.
