hophead_hans (547), Bay Area, California, USA Apr 8, 2008 Bottle, shared. Pours black with a small head. Fairly light body for an impy stout. Nice aromaxs of chocolate and coffee. Hides its alcohol very well, fairly smooth and nice flavors of cocoa, coffee and some chocolate. The lingering finish brings the alcohol out in a more pronounced way.
badbeer (357), Iowa, USA Jun 26, 2008 Black with a beige head and decent lacing. Molasses, caramel, coffee, alcohol, and lactose in the smell. Sweet milk chocolate, molasses, and licorice in the taste. Seemed a bit more like a Baltic Porter, but it was still enjoyable. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. I’d definitely drink it again, though it sounds pretty hard to obtain another. Thanks to DicksMcGee for the sample. DicksMcGee (49), Winfield, Illinois, USA May 12, 2008 Mahogony tinge black with small head. Banana some flower chocolate roasty in smell. Chocolate, hops, roasty sweet taste. Very light on the mouth. Porterish pepsican (621), coralville, Iowa, USA May 12, 2008 Bottle thanks to dicksmgee, thanks for sharing something for once! Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma had chocolate, toffee, and a hint of caramel. The flavor was very similar. Again, chocolate, coffee, toffee, a slight hop bitterness and some brown sugar. It had a slight pickle flavor that I get with a lot of strong wheat beers. Finishes really smooth, not much hint of the abv%. A little thin for the style, nothing really stands out to me. Very drinkable though. shp555 (1342), lilburn, Georgia, USA May 10, 2008 Pours a black color with a light brown head. Aroma is malty, roasty, caramel, chocolate, and some earthy hops.
