2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20 Jamesthebrit (54) - Greenville, South Carolina, USA - JAN 19, 2013A: Pretty good here. Citrus comes through well. A subtle hoppiness.
A: I mean... what am I looking for here. It’s light... Explosive head is a unacceptable for a pale ale where the carbonation should be more in check.
T: A great citrus note but otherwise weak. Light, yeasty, malty drinks way too much like an american lager.
P: Despite the high carbonation it sits decently well. Nice flavor development of the citrus note.
O: I was really disappointed in this beer. After a couple great showings from coast this was pretty much a fail. The citrus note is great but the base of the beer is weak being overly yeasty and malty. Rather out of balance. And the over carbonation on a pale ale is really off putting.... I would understand a bit more if it was something a little more complex where bottle refermentation would bring out some flavors but with this is doesn’t make sense.

Nicely aromatic and citrus forward pale ale. A bit thin and lacking in malt depth but just a tasty hop bomb that isnt too bitter. Great stuff.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 woodychevy (98) - - FEB 3, 2013
Had on tap at Smoky Oak Taproom on James Island. Pours lighter than I would have expected for a pale- sort of a cloudy gold colour. Made me wonder if it is unfiltered? Big head that stuck around for the party.Decent nose - pineapple, fruits, malty and that resinous hoppiness that can be great or really, really offputting. Initial taste is the sweet and then finishes with a decent hoppiness. A sort of piney dryness. Balance is a bit drier than I would have liked/expected and colour is a bit pale- but a solid pale ale; almost like a light IPA. Solid and refreshing- perfect after the driving range.

64oz growler from Charleston Beer Exchange. Pour dull golden color that’s a bit hazy. Aroma of clean hops with tropical fruit. Tastes of citrus pine. Dry short finish. This is nothing to write home about but decent.
