3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
16 oz. bottle, thanks to Mike at the LaJolla BevMo for putting this one away for me. Pours clear reddish-amber with a moderate beige head that leaves some lacing. Aroma features some caramel and toffee malt scents along with the requisite big grapefruit and citrus hoppy notes along with a hint of what I’ve come to describe as a slight ’dusty’ smell as well. Flavor is nicely balanced between the sweet malts and bracing citrus hops, with the ’dusty’ herbal, ashy notes more pronounced than in the aroma. Medium body and gently tickling carbonation. A good west coast IPA, less dominated by hops than some and rather enjoyable overall.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz. bottle. Red heavy amber with a medium sized foamy white head. Grassy pine hop aroma, some ruddy, chalky malt underneath. Sweet malt with subtle grassy hops initially, builds to a slightly harsh cohumulone bitterness. Resinous finish. Mouthfeel is medium, fairly dry.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear amber appearance, good head formation. Tropical fruit aroma, pineapple lemon with mild spicy notes. Strong bitter grapefruit on the palate, fairly astringent and dry. Some mild sweet orange fruitiness, but still fairly bitter in the aftertaste.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(22 oz bottle: $2.99 at BevMo in La Jolla, CA) Another IPA from Coast Range with that signature grassy hoppiness and chalky flavor and mouthfeel that seems to be a part of their house style. The piney hops is more bitter than it seems initially, building a crescendo over the first several sips. The sweetness of the caramely but lightly roasty malt can at times be a bit much, despite a good hops bite in the finish. Hops, hay, tea, and sweet malts in the aroma. A solid, medium "plus" body, crisp, chalky, but palate fatigue does set in before even half the bottle is consumed. Medium dark amber body shows perfect clarity. The half-inch tall, off-white head settles gradually and leaves plenty of loosely-ringed but persistent lacing on the glass. If memory serves, this isn’t all that different from Coast Range’s other IPAs, so perhaps a little more separation and distinction in their IPA product line would be a good idea. Nevertheless, I definitely enjoyed this brew and at $3, it truly is a great value.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour was a nice dark copper color whith a smallish white head. So far so good. Aroma is hoppy with a piney touch and some malt thrown in there. Mouthfeel is a bit thin but nothing really wrong. Flavor is hoppy but not like I like in my IPA’s. Maltiness also overpowers the hops a bit. Probably my least favorite Farmhouse craft yet (I liked the Kolsch better).

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Reddish-amber beer with a thin off-white head. Fruity (citrus and more) aroma. Citrus and fruit flavors with caramel malt backing. Good bitterness. A bit of grassiness, but I didn’t find it bad.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. pours a clear, rich, dark-copper color with red hues. White head. Hoppy nose with piney notes and a good bit of malt. The flavor is very grassy and bitter with a strange maltiness. Finishes a bit sweet but clean. This would be my least favorite of the Farmhouse’s so far.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 12, 2007 Reminded me very much of Two Heart, taste like it was hopped with centennial. Very grapefuity and malty sweet. Low bitterness(again just like two hearted). Hoppy finish. Well done, thanks Mitch.
