Aroma of tart summer fruits, spicey yeast, sweet bread, peach and light hoppiness. Sweet fruity malts, yeast and spice, nice bitter notes and an astringent finish. Medium body and gentle carbonation. Enjoyable. Dorwart (1832), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 28, 2007 Thin white head of fine bubbles. Light carbonation. Crisp citrus aroma with lots of lemon, spices, yeast and dry straw. Nice clear gold in color. More fruit in the flavor. Lemon and tangerine. Lots of spice and herbal notes. Soft malts and a bit of biscuit. Finishes soft malts and pretty smooth. A decent saison but nothing special.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 30, 2006 Bottle from DarkElf. Pours a hazed up medium to dark amber color. A nice smaller head forms and very slowly fades to a ring and layer with sheets of lacing left behind. Aroma is strongly caramel. Plenty of hop in the nose also. This almost reminds me of the aroma of Old Boardhead. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Flavor seems rather bland and innocuous. Some caramel, a bit of hop bitterness which is a bit citric, some herb qualities. Somehow this just fails to impress. A decent enough beer for sure, but not really blowing my skirt up. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 16, 2007 Clear yellow body. Sweet pale malt aroma with a light leafy end. The basic malt foundation continues into the flavor alongside gently spicy yeast and grass/spicy yeast. A solid, traditional-seeming saison. hayduke (1695), Eureka, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 24, 2007 From 22 oz bottle I could find no mention of Coast Range on the bottle. Poured a cloudy golden color, with nice white head and moderate lacing. Nose was yeasty and full of fruits and spices. Mouthfeel moderate, and flavor is of fruits. Dry finish. Very decent brew. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 12, 2006 An above average beer from Coast Range. Pour is a orange/gold color with a huge, fluffy head. Aroma is fruit, spicy, some bubble gum and orange peel in the nose. Mouthfeel was too sticky for my liking, but not bad. I could get notes of clove, citrusy hop, grains and some kind of spice I can’t figure out. Overall not bad and for the price you pay it’s a steal. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 12, 2008 brightly-colored saison, with a slightly hazy, golden yellow hue and an active lush of bubbles. Not a bad aroma. Slightly spicy aroma with lots of citrus and coriander. The beer is quite sweet, actually. Honey or just plain barley malt, I can’t tell, but its a little much for me. Nice medium carbonation makes the beer feel good, but it is too sticky for me. Brigadier (1263), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 16, 2007 Blind tasting at Sombeast’s house
This was the second best saison sampled blind. To find it has such a low score does not surprise me though - it just goes to show that people have wildly different expectations and tastes. Thanks to Joel for bringing this to the tasting (though I did not find out until later it was from his cellar).
Aroma / Appearance - The golden transparent body brimmed with active carbonation. Peach, asparagus and lemon poppy seed highlight the nose, which also contains citrus and floral notes.
Flavor / Palate - Spices, particularly pepper, wash over the tongue. Vanilla, cream soda and a sweet sensation come next. There is an underlying fruitiness that makes it worth savoring. Overalll I would consider this a nice session beer for those times when you just don’t want something heavy.
