POurs black. Nose is roasted grain, fresh fire smoke, cocoa, coffee and sweet malts. Flavor is a pleasant smoke, not over bearing. Cocoa, ash, hints of espresso sweet malts and roasted grain.

Pours pitch black and completely opaque without even the slightest of lighter or mahogany edges when held to a light source. Massive, frothy 2.5 finger creamy light beige head that slowly fades into a lasting cap.
Deep roasted smoked malt aroma. Scents of charred earth, burnt malt and toast, bittersweet dark, dark chocolate, charcoal, ash, campfire, butane and barbecued bacon. Slight sweetness underneath maybe some toffee, chocolate and nut but this aroma is all smoke.
A little lighter bodied than I hoped for but is still slightly chewy/viscous. Pretty damn smokey but not as much as the aroma leads you to believe. Way more balanced than I expected with a lot of bittersweet dark chocolate, caramel, toffee, oatmeal and hazelnut notes balancing out the deep smoked malt flavor. There is still some prominent smokey malt with hints of charcoal, burnt toast and roasty barbecue but these flavors aren’t overpowering. Very well balanced and extremely drinkable, especially considering the style. Recommended.
