4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thanks to Holland for this IP trade. Bomber served in a Founders snifter. Bottled 8-25-2011.
A: Pours a chilled hazy amber with a fluffy and soapy looking white head. Bubbly in nature and leaves some nice sticky lace on the way down.
S: Smell fruity, floral, sweet, has a little malt character and finishes with a slight bitterness.
T: More pin and caramel malt flavors come out than in the nose. There is still a subtle sweetness and fruitiness though. Finish is slightly bitter.
M: Medium bodied, creamy, nicely carbonated with a high drinkability.
O: It had a high drinkability and some nice flavors going on, but it didnít live up to the hype I had placed in my own head.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Growler from Growlers, Hilton Head. Pours coppery-orange with thin off-white head. Aroma is sharply hoppy with essence of grapefruit, mango, and hints of resin, along with a fairly prominent toasty malt presence. Taste is wonderful and along the same lines as the aroma, perhaps with even more maltiness to support the significant hops. This is a keeper!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bomber bottled on April 12, 2012. thanks to Amber. Pours a cloudy orange with a white head. Aroma is solidly hoppy with lots of citrus and mango. Plenty of citrus in the flavor too. It doesnít explode on the palate like some of the best west coast examples but there is plenty of hoppy goodness to go around. Pineapple, mango, pine. Malts are right in line. Pretty fatastic and refreshing to a certain degree.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Poured from a growler from COAST brewery. Poured nice orange hazy hue with about a 2 fingers head. Sweet malty aroma with pineapple, mango and pine hints. Taste is very citrusy and follows scent; pineapple grapefruit and more piney taste. Small hint of alcohol present. Mouthfeel with medium body and moderate carbonation with nice lingering bitterness. Overall my favorite, I would love to do a side by side taste test of maharaja, Hopslam and boyking. For now, this is my favorite DIPA.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From notes. First reviewed 8/8/2011. Poured from a growler into a tulip. At long last I am finally getting to try a growler of this.
When poured into my tulip, Boy King has a dark, but still translucent, caramel color with a cherry tint. A full creamy white head rests elegantly on top, leaving lots of lace all over the glass.
Sweet caramel, grapefruit, spruce, and candied pineapple give this a sweet, fruity, and bitter aroma. Fairly standard and pleasant for a DIPA.
The flavor starts out with a caramel sweetness, which turns into a resiny pine bitterness. A little earthy, spicy, and herbal flavors come through in the middle, with a good amount of citric hoppiness and a dash of pineapple as well.
Not surprisingly, this 9.5% DIPA is full bodied. I would classify this as being smooth, although there is a slightly grainy aspect to this, as well as a little bit of oily resin.
The hop bill was full, giving this a solid bitter presence, but the malt could stand up to it fairly well, which I like in my hoppy beers.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
From a growler - Boy King pours a golden orange color. Huge 3 finger head arises and sticks around with great retention. As you drink this lovely DIPA, lacing is seen everywhere. As soon as I opened up the growler my nose was blasted by tropical fruity goodness. The citra hops used in this brew comes in nicely. It seems they added more citra hops for the latest batch. Follow that up with the other fruit, peach, mango, grapefruit, and you have quite the barrage of aroma. The malt is there but itís just sitting behind the wall of fruit. Itís just amazing.
The taste isnít as fruit forward as the smell is but donít get me wrong. The maltier side comes out more here. Itís still amazing and juicy though. All the fruits come back. Mango, citrus, peach, and grapefruit. It also has a sugary kind of taste and I also picked up some dry hopped taste and feeling. There is a really nice bitterness from start to finish and it lingers nicely on the aftertaste.
As if the look, taste, and smell of this beer wasnít great enough, the mouthfeel is fantastic. Full bodied, slick, and sticky. Slight carbonation. This beer is 4 for 4
