BOD 10/14/15. Slightly hazy medium amber pour. Outstanding head volume, world class lacing and retention. Outstanding nose of citrus hops (orange, grapefruit), tropical hints (mango, melon) and a nice dose of pine coupled with a spicy spruce element. Heavy light body with a smooth texture that has oily aspects. Slightly above normal carbonation with a touch of effervescence in the middle and a fairly prickly finish. The flavor profile is outstanding. Intensity is solid, but not over the top. The beer is nicely complex and quite well balanced. Orange rind and pine are the dominate flavors, with tropical notes appearing in the middle over a solid biscuit sweetness with a heavy caramel influence. The middle bitterness is moderate and is balanced with a rising sweetness as the bitterness fades. Here, also, is where the tropical notes are at their peak yielding a blended burst that fades into a nice sweet orange. The sweetness fades as the finish approaches and allows the spicy spruce to shine. Unfortunately, this is where the alcohol becomes uncovered yielding an astringency that prevents this quite outstanding beer from attaining world class status. The finish leaves that alcohol burn at the back of the throat and an astringent bitterness that lingers.

Tap. Dark copper and unfiltered. Aroma of apricots, peach, and caramel. Upfront bitterness that is immediately hit by caramel sweetness and then juicy orange, apricot, mango flavors. Very good. Borderline too sweet IIPA but very good.

Sample pour from bottle. Pours a clear orange/amber color with small bubbly white head. Aroma is malty with citrus. Flavor starts malty and sweet with caramel hints then turns into grapefruit, lemon, and maybe some tropical fruit in there too. Medium to full body, thinner texture, average carbonation. Bitter finish creeps in. Solid.

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2015 Pours a hazy golden brown on tap with minimal lacy off-white head that leaves light lace. Aroma of big tropical fruit and melon from the hops with a nice caramel malt and biscuit back end. Taste is less of the tropical and more of the melon, but malt kind of over powers everything. Booze is big, bit of astringency, solid double DIPA.

Sample at first sunday. Judging by other reviews I wonder if this was not a little old. Closer to a barleywine with muted hop flavors but lots of sweet caramel malt and toffee working. A little bit of grapefruit bitterness on the finish. Some body send me some fresh!

Bottle thanks to woodchopper on BA! Clear orange pour, a little carbonation and an aroma of hoppy melons. Flavor is more nice melon, good blend of hops and just enough malt to keep it balanced. Finish was perfect with just a little white grape and peaches. Really enjoyable.

Growler pour at my house in myrtle beach. Peachy, mango flavors dominate with a note of dank earthy flavor. Extremely hoppy and slightly boozy. Pours copper in color with a thin tan head. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from a trade. Nice golden amber pour with some hazy and a thick head. Shared with Danni at the Pig. Tulip was nice and laced. The aroma was citrus and pine with some breadiness and sweet roll. The taste was at first hop forward with citrus and pine notes, then transitions into a malty sweetness that is heavy grains and cereal. Nice overall flavors and balance. Medium body, solid carb. Finish is grains, sweet malts, and hops.

Growler share thanks to Homer. Pours golden orange white head. Aroma is mildly hoppy, not in your face. Taste is a bit danky, mouthfeel is a bit wierd to me, not sure what it is. Bitterness sticks with you a bit.
