3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 nearbeer (2656) - Knoxville, USA - SEP 15, 2011
Draft pint at Lighthouse Pizza, Tybee Island. Brown with a nice little covering of foam. Nose of roasted walnut, mocha and caramel. Flavors are a similar blend, with a light touch of citrus and resin to sweep away the sweetness on the finish. Light-medium body is well balanced and drinkably watery, with a medium carbonation.

Draft at Coco’s on tybee island. Pours a light brown with a small creamy off white head. Aroma is roasty, light cocoa and some sweet toasty bready notes, light earthy character. Flavor has more of the cocoa and roast, very well balanced, drinkable with a distinct earthy hop finish, nice crisp bitterness. Medium body and a crisp carbonation. Very nice brown ale.

Tap @ the Distillery. Dark brown color, thin head. Toasted malt scent. Flavor is a nice bold roasty malt. Finishes with a heavy bitterness than accompanies the malt. Superb Brown Ale. (3267)

Tried this beer at Mellow Mushroom Savannah. Has a very nice nutty aroma with hints of chocolate. Color is deep brown with some reddish highlights. Very nice lacing all the way down to completion. Beer starts with a nutty chocolate flavor and finishes with some nicely bitter hops that fade smoothly not to overpower the body. All in all very pleased with this offering.

Dark brown pour with a thin off white head. Malty sweetness with a hint of hops in the aroma. Roasted grain, touches of hops and a malty sweetness in the taste. Decent brew.

I completed the Savannah Century Bike Ride yesterday and really wanted a beer. Lucky for me, the ride ends at The Distillery, so getting a good beer was easy. I saw this and hadn’t even heard of a new Savannah brewery so I tried it. This is a hoppy brown, much like Terrapin’s India Brown. Rich malt. Sharp hoppy bitterness. Hop this place succeeds. First beer is solid.
