Savannah Brown Ale is an American brown ale crafted with a rich malt flavor, balanced by a crisp hop finish. It has aromas of roasted nuts, chocolate, and citrus. The flavors start with a blend of chocolate, caramel, and roasted nuts and follow with a balance of resinous and citrusy hops. The beer pairs well with hearty dishes. Steaks, hamburgers, and sausage are all good choices, and the hoppiness of the beer makes it particularly well suited to be served alongside game dishes. The beer also stands up to strong cheeses such as sharp cheddar, gorgonzola, blue, and (our favorite) asiago

Can poured a clear reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of caramel, earyhiness and light cocoa. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of cocoa, earthiness and light cocoa with a smooth lingering cocoa finish.

Can. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted/burnt nuts, unsweetened cocoa powder). Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Coastal Empire is apparently doing their own canning now (this one had a sticker on it saying canned by CE in Savannah, which covered up the "brewed by Straight To Ale" printed on the can originally, and the Tybee Blonde already had the former message printed right on the can itself, presumably a fresher batch than this one), but itís impossible for me to say if thatís good or bad since I havenít had the Straight To Ale versions. All I can say is both are poor quality, esp. this one, which is quite sour and dirty in the mouth, and very one-dimensional in the nose. A dumper.

Pretty simple aroma, slight toffee. Flavor is slightly bitter coffee with an astringent aftertaste. Not bad. Wife: 3.4

Pours translucent reddish-brown with a fairly thick and rather persistent fluffy light tan head. Not bad for out of a can. Aroma has malty, caramel and nutty notes, not strong but tempting. Flavor is a little better, adding some woody hops and toastiness to the mix. Mouthfeel is firm and viscous, though fizz is lacking. Overall, not too shabby. Grab one.

Actually a pretty decent brown ale, better than expected. Would easily buy more canned beers if like this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: Pours from the can a mahogany-hued, near clear body with a smallish, off-white head.

Smell: Falls in-between toastiness and roastiness, a restrained dose of floral, citrusy hops.

Taste: Roasty, toasty malts with a hint of a charred grain element. A dusting of lightly sweetish cocoa powder. Minor caramel. Modestly estery. Floral, citrusy hops with a medium degree of bitterness. Soft finish with a drying maltiness.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Not bad. A drinkable, run-of-the-mill brown ale.

12oz can, purchased 2/23/15 from Habersham in Savannah. Hazy brown red color. Finger of khaki head. Good retention. Good ridges and spread of lace. Good toasty malt, earthy hop, nuttiness, and some chocolate. Some spiciness. Nice bigger bitterness, lighter sweet. Great hop to this. Definitely a more bitter, hoppier brown ale, without trying to be a brown IPA, at least not as itís drinking now . I dig that. Medium-plus body. Smooth, kind of soft, crisp light to moderate carbonation. Dry finish. Not getting much citrus (as described in the deScription), but I suspect this may not be ultra-fresh. It is a bit musty, and thereís no date on the can... But itís not ruining this beer. Pretty quaffable, complex brown ale. Great to enjoy with my sandwich.

Slightly acidic, roasted malt aroma. OK can, but it looks like beach house artwork. Dark, ruddy brown beer with a clingy bone colored head. Kind of like a light porter, though slightly sweet. Goes flat and has palate problems. Roasty and slightly sweet finish and aftertaste. Pretty drinkable, not exceptional otherwise. Habershamís Beverage Warehouse, Abercorn, Savannah. Halftime of the FSU/Oregon Rose Bowl. Noles have the Ducks on the ropes - weíre only down by 5 at the half.

Cola like brown, big beige head. Smell like toasted bread, a bit of coffee and nuts. Seems to be more of a hoppy brown, which is fine. Piney finish.

From a can. Pours murky brown with a fizzy off white head. Tastes bitter, earthy, light nuttyness, and not very good. Smells like earth and roasted malt.
