COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Savannah Brown Ale is an American brown ale crafted with a rich malt flavor, balanced by a crisp hop finish. It has aromas of roasted nuts, chocolate, and citrus. The flavors start with a blend of chocolate, caramel, and roasted nuts and follow with a balance of resinous and citrusy hops. The beer pairs well with hearty dishes. Steaks, hamburgers, and sausage are all good choices, and the hoppiness of the beer makes it particularly well suited to be served alongside game dishes. The beer also stands up to strong cheeses such as sharp cheddar, gorgonzola, blue, and (our favorite) asiago

On draught at The Distillery in Savannah. Dark brown pour with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of toasted malt and hops. Medium body with flavors of roasted nuts, sweet malt and hops. The finish is roasty with a lingering malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

Draft at World of Beer in Savannah. Pours a clear deep copper color with a finger if frothy off-white head that laces heavily. Aroma of toasted malts, earthy hops, nuts, and mellow caramel. Flavor of earthy hops, caramel, toast, dust, and leaves. Finishes with a surprising amount of bitterness. Medium body, moderate carbonation, and an earthy, dry, bitter mouthfeel. Interesting brown.

Draft at the Crystal Beer Emporium in Savannah. Funny, ’cause the guy next to me asked for something local and they gave him this ... never mind it’s brewed in Virginia. This is a dark, nutty and creamy brew, opaque and swallowing the light. It delivers with a chewy malt, semi-sweet. Quite nice drinker, ending with a sweet toffee finish. (#4702, 7/23/2012)

Draft at Coco’s on tybee island. Pours a light brown with a small creamy off white head. Aroma is roasty, light cocoa and some sweet toasty bready notes, light earthy character. Flavor has more of the cocoa and roast, very well balanced, drinkable with a distinct earthy hop finish, nice crisp bitterness. Medium body and a crisp carbonation. Very nice brown ale.

Tap @ the Distillery. Dark brown color, thin head. Toasted malt scent. Flavor is a nice bold roasty malt. Finishes with a heavy bitterness than accompanies the malt. Superb Brown Ale. (3267)

Draft pint at Lighthouse Pizza, Tybee Island. Brown with a nice little covering of foam. Nose of roasted walnut, mocha and caramel. Flavors are a similar blend, with a light touch of citrus and resin to sweep away the sweetness on the finish. Light-medium body is well balanced and drinkably watery, with a medium carbonation.

Tried this beer at Mellow Mushroom Savannah. Has a very nice nutty aroma with hints of chocolate. Color is deep brown with some reddish highlights. Very nice lacing all the way down to completion. Beer starts with a nutty chocolate flavor and finishes with some nicely bitter hops that fade smoothly not to overpower the body. All in all very pleased with this offering.

I completed the Savannah Century Bike Ride yesterday and really wanted a beer. Lucky for me, the ride ends at The Distillery, so getting a good beer was easy. I saw this and hadn’t even heard of a new Savannah brewery so I tried it. This is a hoppy brown, much like Terrapin’s India Brown. Rich malt. Sharp hoppy bitterness. Hop this place succeeds. First beer is solid.
